I'm sleeping with her tonight!

So you are sleeping with your saw. It seems like you take good care, you must care a lot for your saw! Maybe if you have a wife, where did she sleep?

Then again on a good day on Ebay I'm sure that saw would fetch around $2000 US with someone else selling it. (I don't ever seem to get the bidders with "money burning holes in their pockets"). I plan to keep it. Too bad it's a little too big for the safety deposit box at the bank.

I think that it would bring much more. A clean but USED 090G brought $2600 last year. Yours is NIB (new in the box, but without the box). That would command a big premium. You might consider having your insurance agent put a rider on your home insurance for the value of the saw.

Ok guys just joking, but the saw isn't out in the cold and damp. I slept with the wife but I might of thought of the saw just once

I am also joking. I know my husband would like to sleep near the saws. He, (and me), take good care of the saws.:greenchainsaw:

A good wife would understand and sleep is the shop for a few days.:)

Yes, I agree. I understand what you mean, but I don't need to sleep in the shop for a few days. I have so many saws around me, I like and love them and help my husband to take care. Most of our weekends and spare time are spent with focus on the saws and the resulting firewood..... :chainsaw:

Wow, nice find!

One question: Why would you own a saw like that if you weren't gonna run it???

That's like having a brand-new Ferrari up on blocks in your garage: WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! :dizzy:

What if you had another same Ferrari to drive anytime?
Because I have a non AV 090 to run, when I want to "feel the power". Besides, you heard what one member said, how many do you think are left on the planet?, and why should I have the previlege to make it one less?

He also had a sweet early 084 "run once" that looked the same shape, but that one was already gone. How many of YOU would have taken the 084 and walked on the 090 for basicly the same $? Well at least he is probably out cutting with his. The seller was legit, he was a big man, wanted big saws, bought them, cut one tree had a stroke shortly after and stored them since. They say the 084 is "not for the faint hearted" I couldn't understand him well, he said he bought them in 88 or 98.

Good move. Even if you didn't have another one, there are plenty of beaters floating around in the $500 - $750 range. If you ever wanted to trade it, there is a fella named Hall in Leesburg, Virginia who would probably swap you a new 441 and a Smithfield ham even up. :biggrinbounce2:

There's something wrong with this way of thinking. The saw is absofreakinglutely useless sitting on a shelf. :deadhorse:

Something like those $400 a piece cigars that you can only "buy by the box" ($8000?) and nobody knew what they taste like because "they are Too Expensive to smoke"

Besides it"s not like I can't cut big wood, because I don't have big another saw.

If that would be wrong, then there would be no collectors, no musea, nothing of that kind.

IMO, putting that saw in the wood, would remove its unique character. Only a collector will understand that.

I disagree. Use is what gives items character. I've not seen a museum that had everything in unused condition. It's just not natural.

Think of it this way. If you inherited an item from your great grandad, would it be nice to think that he never used it, or would it be better to think that he did use it? Actually using the item connects us with the item and connects us with the past.

:jawdrop: I respectfully disagree, I have never been understanding collectors that collect unused stuff - as Spacemule said, it is the use that give it character.....:yoyo: :yoyo:

Not using a saw is imo only for those who look at it as an investment for future profit, which of course is perfectly OK.

That's because unused musea items are so rare. They would love to get their hands on unused ones, I think.

I would love to inherit an unused or a used one. No preference if I knew he had owned and cherished it.
that's just me of course.

I'm sure that his other 090 has plenty of "character". Putting aside the question of the decrease in value (the first cut will be -$1000, IMO) this saw is unique in that it has never been used. As soon as it has fired up and made a cut or two, it joins the ranks of slightly used but in great condition 090AV's out there.

LoL, don't want to start a debate here. Everyone his own opinion.

I think this 090 in this state is unique. If you put it in the wood, it will become one of the 1000 others that are still around. Will it have more character ?? If yes, you can still give it character anytime you want to later

If you are a collector and have the choice to buy a brand new 090 or a used 090 for the same price, do you go for the saw with the character or for the new one ?

I know what I would do. :rockn:
