Go for an echo chainsaw if you're happy with a stifled gutless vibrating pos that'll pump out about 33% less ponies than the equivalent sized huskys or stihls backed up with a cynical phony dodging evasive 5 year B.S. warranty... :dizzy:

PS apologies to all the echo owners out there:blob5:

Man, sounds like you have got some serious issues to work out. :D

I still say it may be a good line to pick up, but I dont know your area and business. Good luck either way!

A lot of good points have been raised here. I have never been disappointed with the quality of the Echo product that has come through our shop. I always thought that they were very plain with no outstanding features but also not junk. I really can't see our staff pushing them over Husqvarna although they do make a cool roof saw for fire departments that we don't have.

We have a new Home Depot opening in our area at the end of the month. I am sure that we will start to see a lot more Echo product come through the door. It makes me wonder if that was the reason that the rep came into the shop. I can't help but wonder if providing warranty service for Echo would be much different than what we do for Poulan, Weed Eater, Troy Built, Mac's, and all of the other box store junk. We actually do fairly well by educating the unhappy owners of these products and usually end up selling them a Husqvarna. The Echo is at least better quality than these brands.

Anyway, thanks for all of the input.

If you want another brand, sell Dolmar.

Funny you should mention Dolmar Computeruser, I was asked to set up as a Dolmar dealer about a year ago. They were offering us a very large territory (until they found more dealers to fill it in im sure) and fairly decent margins. My only problem with them is brand awareness in Canada. I spoke with some of our commercial cutters and arborists and most had never even heard of Dolmar. If our customers were all arboristsite members I would do it in a heart beat, but unfortunately we deal with mostly farmers and firewood guys.

I hate to admit it but the only reason for me to entertain Echo would be to gain the Home Depot customers and sell a few of the unique units to our customers. If there is going to be traffic flow through a local shop with product for repair, I would rather it be my shop. We seem to gain the trust and respect from more unhappy box store customers by spending the time to educate them on the safe and proper use of OPE.

I should also mention the other line that they are looking to set dealers up with is Bearcat. It looks like a fairly complete line of chippers. We usually only see Vermeer around this area.

echos sell by the magical mystery technique, claimed as commercial grade chainsaws and targeted at the casual use market, where they perform best of course, and hey, look at that, they're half the price, guaranteed for 5 years, you can't go wrong

Several arborist around here use the CS300, or is it a CS3000 to climb with. They don't mind it as much when they drop a 200.00$ saw 75' feet compared to a 500.00$ MS 200.
