Ed, I was wondering if you'd care to share your background in chainsaw modification? I have been very impressed by the various saws that I've seen in Gypo's videos, the comments of others on the board about your mods and lately by the custom production of wide skirted 3120 pistons for piped race saws. Way cool! What got you into saw mods and where do you see the future of competitive chain saw racing if four strokes are mandated by the US/Canadian gov'ts?

Thanks!

I realize that the summer season is the busiest time of the year for saw racers, so I don't expect an immediate reply. I was just hoping for a few minutes of your time to learn a bit about your background.

Thanks.

Sorry i have been away , on bussiness for 2 days and to see a good freind that is sick , had 2 heart attacks last week and is waiting for open heart surgury, hope he makes it threw it
myself i am not to worried about 4 strokes coming in, they will not work as easy as a 2 stroke because of having to run upside down or on it side plus it will be alot more money to build a 4 stroke saw and then you have weight, they have 2 stroke snowmobile motors now that are very clean with the different ways of injecting the oil and gas in to the jug so if they have to they can go that way,
as far as me telling you anything just go back to a thread the Tony Marks started with the thread called ehp,
it seems that if we < gypo and me > put videos on here that we are showing off or bragging so that is why we have not been doing it lately

Brag away! I love em!!!

Maybe I will put a web cam up when I get the EHP 346 EH. Keep tossing the vids up we all need something to enjoy. Hey I am not saying that talking about bars, oil and espionage of others isn't all in fun right.

Thanks Ed. I'll look for the EHP thread. I've been reading about direct injection 2 strokes for years now. I recall a motorcycle manufacturer called Bimota even released a direct injection 500cc bike, but it was either recalled or discontinued, I think in part due to problems with the injectors. Fuel injected four strokes should work in any position as long as the bottom end and valve guides can be kept lubed, right?

I enjoy the videos tremendously. You're setting the benchmark! More details with the videos would be great: fuel type, pin#, rpms, etc. Just for comparison purposes.

Thanks again.

Redmax, Echo and others have non fuel injected two cycles that aer very clean. I doubt you will see fuel injection in the near future on saws and othe ope because of the complexity, price and weight. Especially since other technologys exixt to clean them up that are not as complex.
