I have always used Red Bull on occasions while living in England but couldn't believe the array of different brands available when I moved here, and also the extra large portion size. think they prove invaluable when tired and they definitely enhance your focus but I'm seem to be using them more and more. They seem to make me work faster especially when climbing, and it's getting to the stage if I see one I buy it. if it's a new one I try it. They obviously work but I know for a fact Taurine is bad for you, and are they just becoming a legally abused drug?

I don't drink them at the weekend, and I feel lack luster because of it. Anyone else use them, or having similar doubts about there effects?

I was chugging down Monsters like they were gatoraid for a while. I'm not even sure they work , but I was wishing they did. Placebo effect? All that caffeine has to do something you'd think. My Doctor said they were the cause of the unbelievable heartburn I was getting and suggested I stop drinking them. Know what? My heartburn went a way soon after giving them up. I still sometimes sneak a red bull after a hard morning to get me going after lunch. I think their addicting my self cuz I sure crave them still. One morning when my ass was dragging I bought a little drink called bolt I saw on the counter at 7/11. It had me shaken and sick. caffeine OD I think. had to go home early that day. Felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I guess more isn't better.

When I was younger I would stop at the QT in the mornings with the rest of the crew on the way to the job and buy a hotdog and V8 for breakfast, a large cup of coffee and a pack of energy pills. I'd take about three of the energy pills and be humming right along once I hit the job. Talk about terrible heartburn and by lunch I would feel like warmed over ****. I quit taking them and felt a lot better. I don't even think the pills are legal anymore. I remember reading something about an athlete taking to many of them and having a heart attack. Can't remember exactly what they had in them but I'm pretty sure they were banned. Haven't seen them in several years. I tried a red bull once and couldn't stand the taste. I don't take any kind of energy supplement now except for a cup of coffee and energy bars. However, I still like hotdogs for breakfast...

I used to operate ag contracting machinery (tractors, choppers, trucks, JCB's etc) doing massive hours in the middle of nowhere and when totally loosing it at the wheel (falling asleep) I would sip Energy drinks. The equivelent of a half teaspoon of a drink called E3 would keep me clear for between 45 seconds to a minute before Id start to fade.

Other guys took more serious stuff.

I don't like them, they taste like the cough medicine I had when I was a kid.

Exactly they are definitely addictive, and I think the more you get use to them the less effective they are. I know the heartburn thing is correct but I suffer with Zollinger Ellison Syndrome which means my daily dose of Prevacid means I don't notice any effect on my stomach. Monster I think is one of the more effective energy drinks, and I have moved onto the low-carb version, but that does nothing to change the long list of cxhemicals you are consuming.

E3 that's a new one there are so many brands out there. In Thailand you can get a Red Bull Syrup to mix your own!

Exactly! Humming when you hit the job! There is definitely some 'feel good factor' associated with the drinks. I was even wondering if it is activated by adrenaline because I love to have a Monster or Full Throttle when I'm climbing it makes me feel good. then on the way home, or in the evening I crash big time. There's probably going to be a whole generation of health problems associated with these drinks especially for the people in office jobs who don't exercise, and are using them as a replacement for coffee.

BTW I love sausage sandwiches for breakfast. They are a winner and easy to burn of in our game.

Not saying this is a safe alternative but a little better than the drinks. Try some Hydroxycut HArdcore. It is ephedra free it keeps me going all day and you eliminate some of the bad stuff in the drinks ie sugar and carbs etc.. I take 2 in the morning and it seems to give me a nice even boost, no jitters or side effects. Thats my 2cents. I all reality none of it is good for you, including coffee.....and hotdogs:)

I like the sugar free monsters. I can get by with no sugar but with all the cattle bile....Yummy!!!!! I quit drinking alcohol, so I drink these here and there instead. You get use to sugar free after a while, but that crap is bad for you too. I guess I better go smoke another filterless cigarette. Be right back.

The best energy drink is getting some in the morning. Gives you a whole different outlook on the day.

all those energy drinks are crap.

just get enough sleep, exercise and drink water.

Carb free Monsters. That's what I use.

Funny stuff here. I like energy drinks every blue moon, my fav is the mango (orange can) rockstar. Monster is good too. Not go on the job though, just afterwards and more of an occasional treat than everyday drink.

If you really want to drink something bad for you, get some of the alcohol energy drinks like tilts or sparks. They are reformulating the sparks here shortly after people were complain about how they are dangerous mixing a stimulant and depressant. Those get you feeling weird fast. I like 2 or 3 of those after a hard days work on a friday. Energy beer rocks:rock::givebeer:

I do exercise four times a week for two hours, and I'm a fully organic healthy eater but I'm getting addicted to those drinks. I actually sometimes have one before I work out because it does boost your performance. I just wonder about the effects long term. We won't know for a while because it's a drink of our generation. I think it was 1993 or 1994 when Red Bull came out.

I take my blood pressure daily that's all good and I can cycle 11 miles in 30mins but I would like to know whats happening inside.
