It's still and stunningly beautiful here this am.. 16 degrees.. but sunny. Saturday night? uh oh.. heavy snow followed by freezing rain...

Haven't moved the truck in three days, but did shovel snow from around it into the bed for weight. That seemed like a great idea at the time.. but as the wife reminded me.. weren't you going to use it to haul from the wood pile (it's 300 feet way though 12 inches of snow/ice)?.. rats...

Andy,

Don't you love it? They are on duty, 24 by 7, rain, shine, sleet, ice or hell, err hail.

Well the ice hit just hard enough here to screw things up. Lost power at 9am this morning. On the generator right now.

Word is the power should be restored tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Lots of tree limbs down, but nothing too big that I have seen. No firewood anyway, just brush.

This weather did help me make my mind up about one thing though. The house next door belonged to my Grandfather who just passed recently and by spring it should be mine.

There are two large Maples real close to the house that worry me. I went out this morning and picked up about 7 large 6-8" dia limbs that fell off of it due to the storm.

The real problem is the septic runs right between the two trees and we had problems with the roots getting into the leach bed already but I still hate to lose shade trees.

After seeing these trees covered with ice this morning, my minds made up, that there coming down soon, I don't need the septic hassle and I damn sure don't want these trees on top of the house.

Heres a picture, hard to see but there are two in a row, the ones behind the one in front.

Left door is bigger (more revolvers than autos)

No plastic guns in that safe.

Didja notice all the revolvers are matched pairs? (one for each hand)

Well it's been snowin since around 4:00 PM
today, little more than an inch an hour. Up to
about 6 inches. Looks like it's calming down a bit.

That is a nice hand gun collection. I like those Ruger vaqueros, maybe someday I’ll own one. My 454 Casull is the closest thing to a 45 I’ve got. I’d like a 1911 also (someday).

Edit: Hey, is that a Colt Python hanging upside down under the 1911's?

Global warming my AZZ

We had about a foot of global warming last night, and with the wind it was pretty deep here in north central Iowa. Spent a lot of the day just shoveling the walks and getting the hot tub dug out so that I can relax there later tonight. I had an appointment in Hampton a town about 35 miles away, at 10 AM this morning. Got there OK, but the trip home was a bit exciting with one lane travel in many places. Was going to go out and cut a load today, but got to busy. Maybe tomorrow after I deliver the Christmas baskets for the shut in members of the community, this is a Lions Club tradition that I have helped with for 20 years or so.

I hope you all weathered this storm well. Best to ya all. JR

I would have rather had that snow than this ice! At least the power came back on by 6pm.

I still aint scratched up this new plow on the truck, need me to come over? (you pay the gas!)

Now they are warning us of 60-90mph winds form the east.... Hmmm it never blows like that from the east... almost always from the south... should be fun...

Been snowing here in the Green Mountains for a few hours now and starting to add up pretty good. Weatherman says to expect up to a foot or so of new snow. All ready had about six inches on the ground when this new storm started so we are getting more snow than usual for this early in the season. The John Deere 1020 is gassed and ready to roll, wood is stocked up for the house, and generator is standing by just in case. I am still feeling quite full from an earlier feast of venison backstrap and onions and all in all, am feeling very content at the moment. Hope you all weather the storm without any major difficulties.
