Just got in an Ergovation saddle in size medium, I am at the bare minimum in that size and not sure if I should have gotten a size small. If you have an Ergovation in size small would you lay your saddle flat on its back and measure the full length of the back pad tip to tip on the inside (side that goes against your body). That would help me know compared to the medium's length where the lateral Dee ring extra padding would fall on my hips. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as it is not easy to get these saddles into my local dealer and either I have to lay out over 1,100.00 to get two saddles in on a credit card to find out and then pay all kinds of shipping or spend alot of time waiting for shipping back and forth of saddles. Thanks again for any help.

I am also on the small end of the medium. Have you taken the saddle completely apart and gotten it back together as small as you could? It is a pain to take it apart, but might be worth your time. I found that in the summer the saddle was almost too big, but in the winter great with all the extra clothing. I normally wear around a 33 inch wast in my pants. I feel the sizes of the ergovation are screwy.

I too wear a 33 in pants and what I find is when you load the saddle the extra pad under or for the lateral dee ring (which is adjustable) is quite foward on my hip, I'm at the rear of it. also I have the 3:1 adjuster for the belt just rearward of the thin web loop at the very tip of the waist belt. This is just with jeans and tee like in summer. Where do you find the side pads ridding on you and how long have you had the saddle and did it stretch or brake in? I also fing the upper part of the lumbar pad does not contact my back how about you? In general I am highly impressed with the saddle just for the money I want to make sure I get the best fit possible.

If it's new I'd send it back. I loved my buck saddle with sliding d's and bonsun seat just need more cushion for the back which I could have got sewn on. I went with the ergo and its' been alright.

Rickytree,
Buckingham makes a Bosun seat and sliding Dee's for the Ergovation take a look at their site, Unfortunately it is not shown on most supliers sites so alot of folks don't know it is available. What specifically makes the Ergo just alright and not great for you?

here is a link to the Double Dee's and Batten seat option and if you cruise their site you can find the price for the part WE2 and batten seat part #1368

Thanks but I know about the bosun seat. To me I just didn't think it was what the ad said it was. I find mine alittle uncomfortable at times and don't really like the velco in the leg straps. Good saddle but not Great is what I'm trying to say. Maybe be alot better with the seat but it's what 90 bucks. like come on and no tool clips. give me a break it's a working man saddle not a rec climbers.

I upper part of the lumbar pad does not contact my back either but I find that to be plus. It would get really hot if it was making direct contact all the time. The lumbar support is there when I need it when I am working in awkward positions. I don't have my belt here at the house so I can't give any feedback on the 3:1 positioning. There was some break in time, but now it in very comfortable on my hips. My biggest problem is the leg straps are almost too big and the height adjustment on them is always slipping. I am going to take it all apart this week and work on some adjustments.
