Little red Homies have a certain 'tip and slide' assembly technique you have to master. There is a small but important difference to each end of the throttle rod.

One end has a more open 'U' and hooks to the trigger linkage. Tuck the spark plug wire where it needs to go also or it's left hanging out in the breeze.

I had lots of practice with my very first chainsaw, an XL-2 from a garage sale 20 years ago. I had that puppy sucking bar oil like a vacum cleaner.

One of mine is sucking bar oil.I replaced the pump diafram but its still doing it?

Two 550's came in this week, both are in good running shape.:)

I'm looking for a little help. Can anyone tell me what size engine this has and I'm assuming the asking price is good? I'm hoping to go look at it tonight.

Seller wasn't sure what the CC's were and he's selling it for his neighbor.

Thanks!

Homelite Super XL Automatic Chainsaw Blue

Those are around 57cc and if it's in good condition will run well for you. The price is good, but you have to check compression and overall condition. You might also check for spark, some of these are electronic ignition but I imaging this one will have points. If I were you I would jump on this one if it checks out.

Thank-you! I'm probably going to regret getting an old saw. Especially when I start trying to get more and my wife calls me crazy.

I have a minor problem with cool old things and trying to collect them.

58cc. Yup, good price if it has good compression and spark. 20 USD as a parts saw.

Model Profile: SUPER XL AUTO

These are really good, straightforward saws with no big surprises when you have to work on it. There's nothing unusual to these saws like you find in some newer saws. In my opinion one of the easier ones to work on, no metric bolts, etc. Clean it up and it's possible to double your money on 'the bay. I have two Super XLs and an XL12 that I'm keeping, at least for a year or two, maybe more.

Does anybody have a picture or information on how a full wrap bar mounts on a S XL 925? I have a line on one, but it's just the bar. On the half wrap the mount that goes down to the body of the saw has a solid piece at the top that the bar butts up against. Thanks.

Very nice indeed Cliff - you have got a real surge on regarding Homelites lately.

Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A public thankyou for the Mac 99 parts as well. Thanks a million.

Regards,

Chris

Thanks Chris, Glad I could help with the parts.

Sweet 550's You got Cliff.
Very nice.

Lee

Thanks Lee.

Yeah nice 550's. I think they are great running saws. They definitely don't have to sit on the shelf.

Thanks,;)

Here's a pic from an IPL showing the full wrap and the flush cut handles...

Found two part numbers of the bracket for the full wrap: 687664-C or A-70194-A.
