Very nice what are they model 17 5-20 7-21 Very nice find I have a model 7-21 I need to find a bar and chain for got it running went to borrow bar and chain from my model 17 chain is to short 7-21 drive gear is bigger :bang:

I recently acquired a model 17 and working on tear down and inspection but have run into a snag. How does one remove the recoil assembly so I can remove the rest? Does the recoil require a puller? Am thinking of trying the back yard way like removing a flywheel. Loosen the nut and pop it gingerly with a hammer, but I must first defer to greater knowledge.:msp_thumbsup:

Nice post Dan, The 150 sounded like it had
a bit more punch than the EZ but who knows
could be my computor. Nice comparision.

Thanks Lee. Yes indeed, just trying to make the case. 150s have taken lots of slams, so just wanted to speak up for them a bit. Not wanting to knock a SEZ by any means, but 150s are nice small saw as well.

I remember back in the day, Late 70's early 80's i worked for
a small engine shop and we sold a lot of the 150's, Super EZ's
and Super XL's. The 150's are an ugly saw but when they ran
they ran good. They deserve a little credit.

I found a few parts to personalize the 1050 but only one upgrade is visible. The others include a rim drum and a 36" roller nose bar, just have to have a loop of chain made.

Looking good Jim. I suggest you run a .404-7 rim if you're going to burry that 36" RN. It'll do fine with .404-8 if you aren't too heavy handed with it in bigger wood (or you're cutting smaller than bar length) though. It'll laugh at 3/8-8 if you go that route instead. Chain should be 107 DL of .404 if it's like my 36" RN.

I picked up another 330 yesterday and I'm in the process of going through it now. This one will be going to my father in law as a gift since he liked running mine so much. I've got the top off to replace the intake boot and noticed something I thought was odd. There isn't a grommet in the carb plate where the fuel line comes through, but there is one for the impulse line. I just looked at an IPL(not a very good one either, IMO) and there doesn't appear to be one shown on the fuel line side. Did Homelite not put one there? It seems like they would since unfiltered air can come through. :msp_confused: I don't recall seeing one when I replaced the boot on my 330, now that I think about it.

I think it is a Solo

But seriously...,

...what is this?

Came in one of those oddball deals with a bunch o' saws for a few bucks. Came in a case and is actually in really decent shape. Just a little dirty without much heavy use.

I have a Homelite 300 which is also a Solo. I think John Deere did them as well in green & yellow of course.
Looks like nice unit1

650, 750 Clutch drum dilemma....6 shoe drums needed

I was wondering if anyone can help me to locate a Homelite Part # 68727 This is a clutch drum used on the Homelite 650, 750, 1050 and maybe others. I have picked up a few East Coast versions of the 650 and 750 which have a drum with a 3 shoe clutch similar to the 550 but the drum is not interchangeable. On most of these saws the clutch shoes are shot. So I was able to pick up some 6 shoe clutch assemblies for 750's but without the drum because I wanted to change them over to the West Coast setup which is much more durable. The Drum from the 3 shoe versions has a much thicker side wall and the 6 shoe clutch assembly will not fit into this drum. It is identical in every other way. So if anyone knows where to pick up the six shoe version of the clutch drum I would appreciate a lead.

Good luck.:jester:

Those drums are in high demand. I'm looking for two. One for my 2000 and another for my 2100-S, as they use the same drum (and I want to be able to run 'normal' seven spline rims instead of the oddball six spline rims). 1050's I've seen don't use that drum. There may have been a few 1050's with the wider clutch that did use them however.

My 2000 came to me with an NOS .404-8 spur drum that was intended for a 1050 (was the same # as the drum that was on my 1050). Don't think the saw was ever ran with it installed. It was the wrong part (too narrow) and dragged on the side of the shoes. Noticed that before I ran the saw. Swapped on a six spline rim drive drum from a parts S-2100 I have.

I was afraid of that.....so my only options are to stick with the old three shoe clutch version in the drums I have or take the drums to a machine shop and have them opened up a few "thousands" to accomodate the larger 6 shoe assembly. I checked with Bailey's and they have Oregon drums for everything in the 50 series up through 550, but 550's won't work either. I guess that is why I never see them on FleaBay....I was hoping I was just unlucky. I didn't even notice they were the same as the Super 2100 and I have two of those as well. Somebody needs to start making these drums again!

The 650/750 seem to have gotten the seven spline drums with the six spline being optional. The 2100's got the six spline drums, with the seven spline drums listed as an option in some IPL's.
