i need the dimensions of the cranks seals for the super ez auto i am rebuilding. it's no. is 40304595, and according to this bulletin, found in a search, it was made in 1974. i found an ipl, but would rather find parts locally instead of chasing part nos. on the internet.
the old seals were holding, but since i have to replace a leaking cyl.base gasket( or leave it out)- need to check squish-and put in new rings, i'll do them too.
the comp. was 120psi. what is good on these ? any one stop sources for these things on here ?
also need the main oil pump seal. appears to be felt. this saw was filthy with oil and fine dust, had a long time leak.
any help would be appreciated.

here's the bulletin

Does anyone know how to read the serial number from a saw built in the 50's? Model 17, serial number 510481. Does it tell what year it was made? Very interested in this information.

Ya beat me to it Ted. Got yours in while I was uploading the pic.

Nice lookin 1050! :msp_thumbsup:

Super EZ vs 150

With all the 150 slamming, thought I'd do a little comparison. Last weekend I cut down a pine, so it seemed like a good time to run the 150 along with the SEZ to see how they compare. This particular SEZ is one of my better ones as far as compression. The 150 (which is a 150E by the way) is a little sluggish, but runs good enough and happened to be the only one sitting around with a bar and chain ready to go. Both have 16" bars, but the SEZ has a sprocket tip where the 150 has a hard-nose. Also, to the Super EZ's advantage, it has full chisel chain where the 150 has semi-chisel. Know I should have used the same bar and chain, but decided just to see anyway how they'd stack up. Both are using 40:1 mix.

A lot of people are nit-picky about weight, so hung up the fish scale and weighed 'em.

Not a super accurate scale, but both are almost the same at ~ 12.5 pounds. This is without oil and fuel added.

Haven't done much video uploading, so not sure if this is going to work, but here's a try anyway. First up, the Super EZ:

Only allowed one video per post, so here's the 150:

Looks like the 150 may be a second or two slower, but they're pretty close. I did mess up the end of the 150's cut which added a few seconds. Have little doubt that with identical bar and chain the 150 would be the faster saw (at least between these two). Bottom line is they're both fun saws that are capable of doing the job.

150's have got to be the coolest looking saws. One of my favorites. If George Jetson had a saw it would have to be one of these.

Picked up this dirty homelite and the green monster behind it for $9. After consulting "all that is homelite" Eccentric, he suggested that it may be a 955 or some such thing.

With the anti vibe it could very well be a 955 but
also a 944 and i thought i had seen where there
was a 922 or 923 anti vibe as well but not sure.

I picked up a VI922 which is 77cc and it has a lot of power. I believe the VI922 was only sold in Canada. If the plate on it says Terry Industries it would likely be a 922 which has an electronic ignition. I believe the VI944 has a points ignition and the VI 955 has an electonic one and is 82cc. They're quite smooth for an old saw.

Yep. VI-944, VI-955, or Canuck VI-922. Funny that Homelite reused '922' (a US XL-922 is not an AV saw). Maybe they didn't want to use '944' in Canada because of the Skil 944 top handle saw...
