Here is a pic of the EZ-Automatic my grandfather gave me about 12 years ago.

He had bought it new to cut firewood on a little hobby farm they had back then. The little Homelite wasn't ever used much and was replaced with a Stihl in the early 80s when they moved out of the city to another small farm.
It started and ran after I cleaned things up, but the diaphragm had gotten very hard. It took a while to find a rebuild kit, but once I did, it was running well so and took this video of the outcome. (taken about 10 years ago)

Now, as I my wife and I are in the process of buying a small farm with a ton of old growth trees, I'm dying to find a 3100G to go with my little EZ-Auto. I'm all about overkill and being 6'4"/260lbs, I don't mind a heavy saw in the slightest. Haven't had any luck thus far...how rare are they?

I can not find a UT 101394 number, but the number UT 10139 is a 1050 and the number10139a is a 1050 Super. Tom

Here is a pic of the tag on my 1050 Super. It has the same UT No. - 101394 as little possums Homelite. I think we can safely say that it is definitely a 1050 Super.

Regards,

Chris.

Homelite

My neighbor passed away and his son brought over a really nice shape blue and white XL-12. Can anyone tell me something about this saw? Thanks.

One of the most popular saws Homelite built. I've heard XL12 stands for extra light, 12 pounds. XL could also mean extra loud. If it has the small rectangular aluminum muffler, I recommend ear muffs. At about 54 ccs, it handles a 16" bar real nice and you could run an 18" or 20" but with no AV, it does tend to make you hands tingle after a while. Post a photo. Definitely check out the Acres site.

Saw Bars

I have several new Windsor hard nose bars 18" - .063 gauge that will fit your C-51 Homelite saw.

D096/D196 is the correct mount. You can run a D009 husky mount to which is plentiful and you may or may not need to open up the oiler hole depending on what saw its on. Only mod need is the oiler hole and its a "maybe"

Homelite XL-12

Thanks Buzz. That is the info I wanted, a little history. This saw sounds like the Stihl 028 of Homelites. I grabbed a couple of pics. No beauty queen but not too bad.

I did see the tiny little muffler you described. WOW! It probably has not run in years, but I will throw a little gas in it and give it a try. It is sitting right next to the 084, but is not intimidated at all. I think it has attitude:laugh: Thanks again for the info.

HOLY COW, I got the 924 runnin.Sloshed some new mix in the tank and dumped it. Pulled the top off the carb and it looked nice and shiny inside. Primed the carb (flooded it) and pullled about a dozen times and off she went. Had to prime it 5 times before it started to pump up fuel. The chain that came with it looked like it had ben rocked and still run for a week. The only other B/C I had that looked like it may be half sharp was a 16"er on an old XL-12 a friend gave me. Let me tell you that 82cc's with a 16 bar and that sucker cuts. I'm going out wood cutting with a couple friends on Friday, I think I'm gonna try to find a new 20" chain for the bar that came on the saw and take it with us. Another good thing is the oil pump throws lots of oil. I'm very happy with this one, Joe.

Anybody ever seen a "Old Blue" SXL?

Yep. They were made right at the end of the "Real Homelite" era (early '90s). Was an attempt to drum up sales from 'nostalga buyers'. Same as a late production SXL for the most part, but with a shade of blue paint that's darker than the '60s blue Homelites. May have a Zama carb instead of the Tilly HS or Wally SDC. Should have the simplified/cheapened manual oiler button/pump setup. Still a good saw.

That little Homelite won't ever be intimidated by any Stihl, even a mighty 084. Glad to see another one being saved. That vintage of XL12 will have the big wick fuel pickup in the tank. You're gonna wanna drain and flush the tank before filling with fresh mix and starting.

Drain whatever crap's in there now and fill it 1/2 way or so with good fresh mix. Let it soak for a while. Swish and drain. Repeat if it's still nasty in there. Fill with some more fresh mix, spray some mix down the carb throat (I use a new household spray bottle with some fresh mix), choke it, set the high idle, and pull. Bet she pops! Do the prime 'n pull thing a few times and she may well keep running on 'er own. Happens more often than not.

If the carb is gummed beyond function, then clean it out and put a kit in it. That vintage XL12 should have a Tillotson HS, unless something else has been swapped on (Walbro SDC or a Zama from a later saw in the family). The Tilly HS takes an RK23-HS or DG5-HS kit. The Wally SDC takes a K10-SDC kit. The Zama gets replaced by an HS or an SDC with a kit installed!:D

Great news Joe! The only time my postal/package carriers bring me surprises like that is when I've paid for 'em. I hope to get an XL900 series saw like that in the future. Count your DL's on the old chain. Should be 70DL for a 20" .375 chain on an XL series saw.

ID my Homie

Can anyone tell me the mfg. date of this old dog? And cubes? It looks real nasty with a shaker can paint job in Husky orange, but seems to run good, I haven't cut with it yet. This weekend I'll cut some blocks, run a couple of tanks thru.
