Newbie

I am new here, fixing up an extra Homelite 330 with briantutt. It will be interesting to learn what to do with chainsaws and i hope to be doing this for a long time. This is the first chainsaw that i will be fixing. :computer:

wow, if I had that 3 slot bar I'd be hunting for a nice 5-30 N to hang it on.

first NOS bar i've ever seen for one :msp_ohmy:

I had not gotten to the point of checking mount application yet. Thanks for the info! Many more to pick up but no others in this mount.

Stopped at a local shop today to look at the new Echo saws. He is a Homelite turned Shindaiwa turned Echo dealer. Same old story, we got to talking saws and he presented me with the opportunity to by some of his Homelite NOS. I of course said "I'll pass, no one is interested in that junk."

More to come......He also showed me the parts saw roomsssss. I need a bigger truck

Man oh man Mitch. You know you have our attention...:popcorn::popcorn:

You may have guessed by looking at my siggy......but I'm really looking for an A57090 piston/rings/pin assembly and an A58289 cylinder for my 900D. Just couldn't fight off the need to put that out there...:D

Aaron's waiting patiently (somewhat) to see what bars and other parts you come up with.

Should I even bother?
What's the squish with no gasket ? .020" is generally considered minimum.
If it's there, or more, with no gasket then you can just use a sealant.
If it's less than .020" then you'll need to shim it up with a gasket.

I picked up a 290(solo made) to add in the collection. First I found a wire broken in the insulation and now have spark. Still no run. It had 120 lbs comp but when I pulled the muff it was scored. Looks like someone trimmed the intake skirt on the piston. It has removable transfer covers and one of the plastic guides is melted. The carb gasket was half missing. So much wrong, where do I start?

WOW you Homelite guys may want to check this out

This is on Muncie, IN CL

Homelite Equipment

Might be right up someones alley

I would have called on one of his 925's but it says he doesnt want to part out.

This looks like the collection that Calvin said he was going to buy before he left in a huff. As I recall, the asking price was $4000, but may be more reasonable now.

I picked up a near mint cylinder, piston and rings for my blue/white XL 12.

Would it be benificial to use just gasket sealer on the jug base? Has anyone else done this?

Looks like I can get another .015"-.020" squeeze.

I will measure the squish naturally.

The jug gasket also seals the intake side of the crankcase to the handle assembly so you'd have to find another way to seal the intake or cut the jug sealing section off. Might be some alignment problems without the lower section. For what you would gain, I doubt it's worth it.

Yup, have to make the gasket anyway so I'll just make the reed/carb box end of it.

May as well go for all we can get. Like in circle track racing; "Cheat, cheat, be hard to beat".

Thanks fellas.
Carl.
