I've had several guys ask me about these things lately, so I thought some pics would be helpful. Also put some sticky notes with model and part numbers for you guys. The only one missing is the 394 which I didn't have. Somewhat bigger as you'd expect. Here ya go boys:

Great post, thanks!
Clears up some confusion...
Did not know the 257/262xp ones were still available?

Guys doing muff mods ask me about these exhaust deflectors from time to time, so I figured I'd post a list and share the info with everyone. There's actually several to pick from. The sizes roughly correspond to the sizes of the original mufflers, but there are no dimensions available. List is by original saw, part number and current retail price. (They aren't cheap are they? :msp_sad:)

55/254---501799101 $17
262--- 503545401 $17
266---503589901 $9
288---503078301 $15
394---503472301 $17

There was a smaller one for the 242XP, but it's NLA.

i use 266 and 288. mostly due to cost.

Wait?! . ??? 394 REMOVEABLE deflector?? never seen THAT before... I've seen MANY mufflers...NONE with a un-welded deflector... sure would be nice! :)

Thanks Brad. Geez, this was 2 1/2 years ago?

One update though is that the nice little compact one for the 55/254 is now NLA. You could fit that almost anywhere and still get a decent sized hole under it. Great for doing a more mild muff mod that isn't as ear splitting as most of them are.

Thank you Bob for doing the original post. Great info!

Thank you Brad for bumping it. If not for you, newbies like me wouldn't have seen it and it is GREAT info!

Cheers,
Glenn

Thought I would bump this thread as it looks like these are all NLA. What are you guys using for deflectors on your muffler mods. I need them for 181,281, and 266. Any body making their own? I need to be able to us a spark arrester screen so I don't think pipe would work.

288s are around or Red97 on the Other People's Exchange makes them.
