I am trying to purchase a chainsaw, $300-$450 range. Looking for a user comparison of husky 350, 353 and 359 for homeowner mid to light usage. Wondering if I will even notice a difference in these saws, using them 8-12 times a year. I would really appreciate anyones opinion on which way to go and why, been reading posts on here for several weeks, looks like the place to get questions answered by the pros!

Newfie why would you say that, your 2 cents is just as good as anyone else here, maybe better

my 2 cents are of the saws you listed it would be the 359 hands down reason
more power , faster, and should last longer
and because it cuts faster that leaves more time to do other stuff, but i like the 365 as well for a home owner saw, up here the 365 sell more than any other husky saw, the older people like them to cut there firewood

The 350 and 353 are good limbing saws, but their not saws that can pull through hard wood that well. The 365 is a good saw, but if were going to buy a saw of that size, weight and price i would buy a 372xp or Dolmar 7900.

Out of the 350, 353 and 359, the 359 is the best saw for the money. you should also consider the 346xp, it's light powerful and fast.

350
3.1 HP
13.000 RPM
10.6 lbs

353
3.2 HP
13.000 RPM
10.6 lbs

346xp
3.4 HP
14.500 RPM
10.6 lbs

359
3.9 HP
13.500 RPM
12.1 lbs

Second thread viewed tonight and second time I get to mention weight. Battin' 1000!

Those weight figures are quite meaningless except maybe for comparing different products within the line. Certainly not usable figures for comparing against other brands. Stihl removes the bar and chain and reinstalls the drive cover (with the outboard bucking spike if the saw comes with one) and weighs that package. Dolmar and Elux remove yet more unspecified stuff and offer the result as a comparison to the competition. I have no clue what Echo, Shindaiwa, Redmax, Solo, Emak, (what else?) do or do not, regarding the matter. There really ought to be an industry standard for the specification so it can be meaningful across the board. Aside from power output, weight can be a major factor in a saw-buying decision.

Having no time on any of them, of the saws listed, I'd say if you can find a 359 sans catalytic muffler it would by my recommendation.

FYI,
I got a circular in the mail from Baileys which advertised the 359 for $399. I believe it comes with b/c as well.
