One thing I can tell you for sure, and that is that the husky helmet is a lot more comfortable to wear than the stihl helmet. I also wear prescribed glasses or sun glasses and I haven't had any issues, but me too lift the ear buds when I am not running my saws.

Funny I'm viewing this thread today because I just pitched my Jonsered helmet. I don't know if its the same as the Husky set up but mine was junk. I can't remember how it happened but one of the tabs that holds the webbing in place broke and it was always falling off my head. I took the ear protection off of it and the helmet cracked at the mounting slots.

The face shield was a direct fit on an MSA helmet with the MSA muffs but the Jonsered muffs are a sloppy fit on an MSA helmet. I still have the webbing if anyone needs it. I only wore mine a couple times.

Also if anyone needs MSA helmets I have a pile of once worn helmets that I hate to pitch. I work Union construction and every company gives us a new helmet on each job.

bit spendy but I've settled on a Pacific helmet (got from Baileys). It's kevlar so no UV issues and it fits my big noggin very well. The Peltor screen didn't fit as well (was recommended) so am adapting a shield from an Echo helmet. Husqvarna lids didn't fit as well but Stihl helmets were not bad.

I have one of them too/ I love it.
Husqvarna Pro Forest Helmet.
Peltor helmet with great earphones. and the mesh screen.
Very comfortable.
I price matched it for $35 at 70% off from a local Home Depot.
Glowing deal.

Sorry, my mistake.
Mines actually an Echo safety helmet.
I'll put it to it's first test this weekend along with the new saw's first felling while cutting down one or two large Aspen trees on my property.
I'd should post some pics for everyone I think.

? Kevlar is degraded by UV, unless protected by some type of coating. Kevlar helmets are good for heat resistance, such as in steel mills, and can be lighter than some other helmets.

All plastic/polymer helmets degrade over time. In construction, some recommend replacing hard hats that are 5 years old (date of manufacture is usually molded in). Leaving them exposed to sunlight, left on the back shelf of your car, or hanging in the rear window of a truck, can lead to accelerated wear. If the plastic cracks, looks dull or chalky, it is time to replace.

One advantage of 'name brand' helmets is the availability of parts. E.g. a damaged face screen, or damaged suspension can be purchased separately, and replaced for less than the cost of the entire helmet. It's the suspension that really absorbs impact, not the helmet; it is recommended that you replace the entire helmet if it has sustained a severe impact - it has done it's job.

"With 5 times the strength of steel on an equal weight basis, these lightweight Kevlar construction helmets offer excellent protection and comfort"
"Lightweight Kevlar/Composite Shell Weighs Less Than Competitive Fiberglass/Composite Alternatives"
"Not Affected by UV Exposure"

OK - as I read the Bailey's description, it is protected against UV exposure by the coating resin. Their description is a little deceptive.

LOL! Not just that shade of orange dealer

I stopped at a Husky dealer today in dress clothes and despite dropping a hundred bucks felt I was treated like I wasn't worth his time. Oh well not my regular dealer.
Very few Husky dealers around here, but a steal dealer around every corner. You figure a 100 bucks would get you a little attention. If I owned one of those stores, I would make sure everyone felt welcome and if one of my employees didn't, they would be lookin for another job.

Just for the record I'm not looking for anyone to KMA regardless of how much I spent but at the same point it was pretty obvious he didn't have the time of day for me. He actually got the business because my local dealer didn't stock what I needed so I had to take a 20 minute trip down the road.

There is still no excuse for them not making you feel welcome and want to come back. It's really easy to do. all it takes is a little personality and talking to the customer. My gun shop here is exactly that. they make you feel at home whether you buy anything or not. I never walk in there unless they show me all the new stuff and let me fondle it. Of course their hoping I will buy it but they know I will be back cause of their service.

Yep.

After my time on here I'll probably buy any new saw from a sponsor. But my local dealer has a lady manager that is quite knowledgeable and the parts guy is pretty good too (except for the time he didn't know what a L77 was lol). They have good follow up when you special order stuff as well.
