upgraded injectors

I'm certainly no expert in the matter, but it's my understanding that such changes, without modification to the control programming, result in short-lived gains since the control systems are somewhat adaptive, and able to correct the "anomalies" back to stock-like service.

The theory of horsepower-hours has probably got some validity; and the general idea is part of why I have slight reservations regarding the modification of chainsaws for everyday use.

glens, Not on a diesel. Diesel engines do not run at a constant air fuel ratio. A diesel takes in every bit of air it can geat at all times and the turbo pushes more in, there is NO THROTTLE on a diesel. The engine speed is controlled by adding fuel. Injectors are a very popular stand alone power upgrade to diesel engines.
To try and stay on topic, there is a knife edge to the horsepower hour equation as it applies to chainsaws. If the saw is restricted to begin with than the added heat is as much if not more of a detriment than a little extra output. Put another way, I might live long enough to wear out my Cummins engine but I don't use a saw enough come close to using its life in mine, so even if I shortened its life by increasing its power, so what!? If I use 2 or 3 $30,000.00 to $40,000.00 trucks and a few $1,000.00 saws in the span of my life, I could afford to sacrifice an extra saw more easily than burning up an extra truck!

Sedan, I have a cummins also. I have ran the truck with a edge ez and was quit impressed. I would like to buy the edge box and a set of injectors, but am hessitant because I have the auto trans.BTW you can gain some miledge by swapping out the 190 degrees thermostate for a 180 if you havent already done so. This fools the compuer into bypassing some of the emmisions crap.

Cocaine + Mammary bars = 1 wife
She won't be able to cook, but can be real fun until she turns
ugly........ In some cases, the next morning.
Been there, done that.......

Lambert, there are no seals in Mich. Maybe a couple of Weasels
Ermines, and Fishers, and a cranky Wolverine or two.
But Huskyman is not too picky.

I dont know what an ermine is. Must be a KY thing. Wolverines are extinct in the Wolverine state:rolleyes: We do have coyotes and moose:)

As far as the leg it functions fine. The worst thing about the injury was the fact that my leg is hollow, and all the beer I drank would drain on the floor and make a mess with that hole there.

I would rather not say how it happened, but it was stupid:D

Respect the saw like it is your wife!:blob5:

Huskyman, I understand and respect your brand loyalty, but wouldn't a shindaiwa have been more appropriate considering the application?
If I respected my saw like it was my wife, my girlfriend would take it away from me. We can't afford the downtime that results from such injuries.

sedanman,I agree building more hp and torque out of these diesels can lessen the longevity of them. An,yes a "a cocaine habit and 3 ex-wives would be cheaper!"
:D There is a guy named Mitchell who is probably making over 800 hp now with his Cummins but it only a pulling truck.

Any ruminants up your way Glen? I am in the market for
a sleek, sporty, Alpaca for spring. I hear Indiana is quite well
versed in husbandry of this type!

I'll check with some of the locals, Fish.

Did you happen to catch the joke Frank made in the gullets thread?  It sounded like he was suggesting not even removing the chain from the bar first.  That would be tough - I don't know if even Linda would want to attempt it.

Huskyman!
This thread in your honor has been real popular. So you have
dropped just the aquatic animals, huh? Any ruminants up there?

Yah Fish, I got your seal reference but what really has me curious is Huskyman`s statement about ermine and KY. I`ve heard from a guy out in Montana that Alpaca don`t need, nor do they like KY, is that true Fish?
