Husquvarna 55 Muffler's loose.

Well I sold this saw about 5-6 years ago to a friend. He was running a team of 031's to cut his firewood. He's gotta be 70 now and I finally got him to let me take this saw home and see if I could fix what ever is wrong with the muffler. He told me the muffler was loose and he wasn't gonna run it till he got it fixed. It's been 2 years now. Well the picture say it all. So my question is the cylinder repairable?

The piston is in perfect condition. Kinda hard to believe

I bet some of this is left over from when I owned the saw. I don't remember it being very dirty though.

I'd like to get this back together for him. If it's not repairable I may be able get him to let some of his 031's for trading.

Yes it could be TIG welded back. Best way is AM P&C and muffler from Baileys. Baileys AM P&C is semi-closed port cyl makes more power than the open port on it. Or look for a good used 46mm 55 cyl. and use the old piston.

I wish I had access to a tig welder. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. I put the saw back together for now. I'm gonna stop at a few more saw shops to see if they have any basket cases laying around.

Install an muffler bracket.The guy had problem probably he used the saw without bracket or a broken one.

The bracket was torn. I'm planning on replacing the bracket.

I would look for a welding shop in your area and anybody worth their salt could weld that for you. It would not take them long and then you can do the finish work yourself.
