And I'm liking it.

Sorry, West Coast dudes, I guess I'm just a "half wrap" kind of guy. You can preach on about the wonders of your full wraps, but I've had nearly 5 years of it just being in the way.

For anyone wishing to adopt a full wrap bar, I'm putting it in the "pay it forward" thread in Off Topic. It's a nice heavy duty job, don't remember the make. Will fit an 064 or 066.

I'll take it!!!!!

Couldn't you have just sawed off the piece that bothered you? Gets in the way, uhh how?, another great thing about wrap handles is when you cut down trees for a home owner and they pull the usual "can you make the stump lower?", you can show them and say, "no can do". The only valid reason I have ever heard for not having a wraparound on a big saw is if you are running a stumpgrinder. Whatever floats your boat, nice of you to give it a home where it will be used.

on a new stihl i like everything about the full wrap version except the full wrap, HO OILER, taller clutch cover, different spikes and roller chain catcher, i put the different spikes and roller catcher on my half wraps. to me turning the saw upside down feels awkward, but i guess it is just becuase im not used to it.

Wow It's My lucky day I was just telling Smoking dodge in his green light rep comment I just smacked him with,,,I should finish the bottom end on my third 066 work saw this weekend and I guess its gonna get a wrap handle,,, Funny you say that we cut lots of stumps close for grinding and have some half wrapped saws just for that!!!!

poor feller 066 debared

sad too see the 066 lose its roll bar:cry:   the full wrap gives the saw more protection should a tree fall on it:hmm3grin2orange: full wraps make limbin easier when used on bushy trees and their tons of limbs:cheers: :chainsawguy:

hmmm... I miss again..

i priced a half wrap for my 660 today, because a beach tree rolling over them is heck on a handlebar, and it was $75.00, i can buy 4 aftermarkets from baileys for that.......:buttkick:

Valid reasons? Ok.

  1. keeps saw from laying flat on it's side--makes refueling more inconvenient.
  2. Makes removing bar cover and retaining nuts more inconvenient.
  3. prevents saw from fitting into smaller boxes
  4. is mighty girlie!

Which of these are invalid? :hmm3grin2orange:

Sorry mark I have to say it:bang: :bang: :bang: It really is a PNW thing we are the freak show using both sides seems totally natural maybe cause I done it for so many years.:chainsawguy: None wrap feels funky to me missinga grip. But I also run 28" 044 and 32"or 41" on 066. Yea we know ya can cut with the top but on bigger wood the dawgs hold the saw a lot beter than the break handle.

My sentiments also +1

I run a stumpgrinder and use full wrap saws.

Hey Clearance, still not that valid of a reason. For me, at least.
I stumpgrind, both my 440 and 660 have full wraps. it only sets me off off the ground a couple of inches, I think it helps keep my saws out of the dirt a bit. Full wraps don't bother me at all flush cutting stumps. I still have the advantages of full wrap bars when falling trees.
Full wrap.....the only way to go. For me, anyway. That's why they make both, everybody's happy....but I'll take the full wrap.

Can't lay it on its side, omfg, lame, I can, just not on the pavement.
You just need the right wrench, got a few of them, lame also.
Smaller boxes, lame again.
Girlie?, no, wrap handles, big dogs and long bars are what separate a mans saw from the wannabee saws.
Anyways Spacey, how much do you fall and buck, really now?

I stand corrected, wrap handles rule, no reason not to use them, unless you don't want to use the saw to its full potential.
