$3,000 and it does not even include the owners manual.

How much was that saw new back in the day, $650?

Well, the sale has ended, and no bids. Imagine that. Once started and run in the wood, it would drop to about two grand in value. Investment chainsaws???

I mean, why the fork would you buy a new 044 for that kind of coin? You could still likely scrounge up three brand new 440s off the shelves in the US for three grand. You could certainly buy three new 441C-M saws for that, or even three new 461 saws for that (with the discount that I get). And they would come with a warranty.

Don't you guys know that Stihl saws double their value every year after leaving the factory! Best investment out there! Even better than gold...

I pm this guy on ebay and ask him if he meant to start the bid at 3000 or 300. He said his dealer told him it was worth 3000. I offered him 675 and he said he had been offered twice that already.I told him you should have jumped on it and wished him good luck. I have a good friend who is looking at a super clean 044 for 400$. Is 400 considered a good deal on a used one?
