I pm this guy on ebay and ask him if he meant to start the bid at 3000 or 300. He said his dealer told him it was worth 3000. I offered him 675 and he said he had been offered twice that already.I told him you should have jumped on it and wished him good luck. I have a good friend who is looking at a super clean 044 for 400$. Is 400 considered a good deal on a used one?

I would say a super clean 044 is worth $400 all day long.

I got a low-hour 440 on CL in excellent condition for $400 and think that was a good deal; also got a clean 440 with a lot more hours and broken parts for $465, which was too much at the time, except the saw runs perfectly now.

Yes high for a new 170 but this one has the extra special 16" bar so you can use it as a falling saw.

Now, this one I do not understand. I can buy 170 saws all day long here for $180 at the Stihl dealer on sale now. With a one year warranty. Trolling for suckers...

I have a 10mm wristpin 044 that I paid $200 for 3 yrs ago and I love that saw so much I don't think I could sell it for $400.

I know the seller, he's a good dude, saw is legit...had my hands on it but it's too pricey for me...looks like it may go to 2K.

Yes, that is a good price on an average 044. That is a really good price on a super clean 044, or one with low hours on it.
