AFAIK, the 038 magnum was tagged as such on the metal tag... and I thought the MAG II was the 71.7 (i think) CC version...

can someone tell by the serial #?

Looks like a classic Frankensaw to me. Top cover, air box cover and rear handle/tank do not match. Muffler is no triple port either. Says "seller referbished" near top of add. I wouldn't touch that one, but that's just me. I'd be willing to be it ain't no mag II P/C either.

No, all "Magnum" 038's had a 72cc jug. The "II" designation had the 3 port muffler.
