Very well cared for MAC 15 Large cc chainsaw...very nice original condition, shelf stored for ages. fires on ether, I think it needs a carb kit.

Very clean and original saw.

Man oh man I wish these idiots would STOP firing up saws with ether, carb cleaner, and the like. Just squirt some PREMIX down the throat. Hope he hasn't ruined the piston and rings in that nice looking 15...:bang:

My uncle has one of those somewhere. I never knew what model it was until now.;)

They were the 'comsumer' and 'farmer' saws that McCulloch made to compete with the Homelite Buz, Homelite 500, the Mono/Wards saws (such as my WD60) and others at that price point during that time period. They cut costs (and widened the 'performance gap' between the 15 and their more expensive saws) with different porting, cheaper carbs (the Tilly HC), sheet metal parts instead of expensive castings, etc...

well...

just a QUICK hit to see if it pops, is fine. KEEPING THE SAW RUNNING ON IT, on the other hand!!:bang::bang:

But if it's been sitting for years, and was last run with crappy old dino oil, then it'll be dry as a  fart inside. No lubrication at all. Not for me brother. I keep a 'mix' spray bottle handy for such things..

I don't understand why people do that. Not like we don't all have a can of mix around somewhere.

About Starting Spray/ Diamond-Studded Jones-y-red

I don't understand why people do that. Not like we don't all have a can of mix around somewhere.

MY can of starting spray has "top cylinder lubricant" in it. Since this keeps coming up here, I started looking around to find ether without oil in it. ALL of the brands I can find have oil in them. Now how MUCH oil, I don't know. BUT it is there. For a quick test it's probably enough. I've read that starting spray makers have been encouraged to add oil to make it harder to use for making meth out of cold tablets.

The only people who do this are non-chainsaw folks who are lucky to remember to add oil to their 2-cycle gas. It's a bit much to think they'll take some proper mix-gas and buy a spray bottle for it (though I have one ready). They're selling the saw- likely they'd care not if they scored the piston a little bit anyway.:looser:

Besides, people often HATE mix-gas. This person is selling their 2-cycle snowblower solely because it "smells"- http://burlington.craigslist.org/grd/2046164539.html. Too bad they didn't just get some of that strawberry Ipone oil!

On the subject of this thread, this person must have misplaced the decimal point-

LOL. I have a jug of that around here somewhere. I used to run it in my John Deere Spitfire snowmobile.
I got lots of guys asking "WTF?" when I pulled over to let them by. LOL

Use it in your saws! It's supposed to be the best ever. I'm planning to get some or the Valvoline (I think) bubblegum sno'chine racing oil.

brand new Dolmar 6500

http://asheville.craigslist.org/tls/2009779784.html

I have a brand new Dolmar 6500 chainsaw with a 20" blade for sale. This chainsaw is brandnew out of the box and has never even had gasoline in it.This really is like the Ferrari of chainsaws. Now is the time to buy because of the upcoming winter. I am
asking $500.00 considering this is a $700.00 saw that has never been used. If interested call 828-283-1671 or
828-316-1681 can send pics.
