Randy,

I thought that was old news??? i thought it was the 17th of LAST month that was going to happen... unless it was yesterday?! :dunno:

I just got the email an hour ago. You may have too many irons in the fire Jay. You should just send all your saws and parts (of course) to me. It could help clear your head. :D

Here's the nut busting part of the email.

Dear Randy Evans:

We're writing to remind you that as of July 6, to encourage low-cost shipping, all Final Value Fees will apply to the total amount of the sale, including shipping.

I just got an email from ebay stating that their final value fees were going to also apply to shipping in the near future. Damn I thought their fees were plenty high enough already.
I would assume that's due to sellers that sell $200 items for $1
(+ $199 shipping and handling) to avoid paying Ebay for their service.
As usual, a few ruin things for the many.

Well, here is how I get around it: I sent the email back and said "Craigslist does not do this to me."

I just need to work on my patience skills a bit and tell buyers that I will ship.

Will not work for all the stuff I sell on feeBay, but if A MILLION OTHER FOLKS ADOPT THIS PRACTICE, maybe they will notice.

I will kick the soap box under the bench now.

Thank you.

THEY WANT you to think that. the buyer's weed them out...

it's to boost ebay's BOTTOM LINE.

For those interested, look up some info on the new fees, and how it affects both BUYER and SELLER in a negative way (multiple purchases, and combined shipping etc....)

They are working on squeezing out the little guy that made ebay what it is. when I buy 4 saw parts from one vendor, if he INCLUDED the shipping in the COST (to give free shipping, as ebay WANTS you to) I would NOT be able to get 4 items shipped for $15, etc....

so...

anyone ready to ship a SAW to EUROPE when that happens?!?!? NOT I... :angry2:

Ebay EXECs say "buyers EXPECT FREE SHIPPING...

I know I don't. shipping is something OUT OF THE SELLER and the BUYER's CONTROL....

I hadn't thought about that. You are correct though, a few do ruin things for the many.

Now that it's been posted for all to see I think the key words are: "Maybe an AS member would snag it."

dammit  I've been on the hunt for one for a while... 6 hrs away doesn't make much sense though :bang:

If someone is able to grab it, i'd be VERY grateful, BUT... I don't want to step on other's toes... (Lee, etc)

BTW, Lee.... don't you have like 12 of those already?! :msp_scared:

... to the 50s!

That Mono Line would be nice, but not at that price ...

His prices aren't too far out of line for the condition of those saws as long as the P/C's are in good shape. Bet he could be talked down a bit, especially if a fellow got all three. I did get my Mono/Montgomery Wards WD60 for $10 with a 25" roller nose and a good loop of 7/16" chain about ten years ago. It doesn't look as nice as that red Mono however.

That ad is another example of things that annoy Aaron, but that probably don't bother anyone else...

People don't know when a saw (or motorcycle, or engine or whatever) was made, yet they decide to pull a date out of their ass. I can't count how many old saw ads I've seen on CL and feebay where they say "1940s chainsaw" or ""from the 50s" when they have no damn clue when it was made. Those three saws are all from the early '60s. Saw an ad for a Homelite 2100 a while ago where they said it as a '50s saw. The damn thing was probably built in the early '70s. It's big, blocky, and heavy..............so it's gotta be from the '50s I guess.

That bothers me almost as much as people calling sprocket-tip bars "roller nose". ####'s up my ebay searches for real roller nose bars. Happens all the time in the "Swap Meet" thread on AS too. That bothers me much more than people calling guide bars "blades". At least that term was used by some saw manufacturers at one time.

The chronic mispelling of McCulloch, Poulan, Homelite, Husqvarna, and Stihl on CL and feebay bugs me too. Sometimes it works to my advantage if I can find something that others have missed by using a correctly spelled search term. Still....................how hard can it be to look at the damn saw and write the name down???:bang:

Allright. Enough ranting. Off to take a crap and go to work.
