... to the 50s!
That Mono Line would be nice, but not at that price ...
His prices aren't too far out of line for the condition of those saws as long as the P/C's are in good shape. Bet he could be talked down a bit, especially if a fellow got all three. I did get my Mono/Montgomery Wards WD60 for $10 with a 25" roller nose and a good loop of 7/16" chain about ten years ago. It doesn't look as nice as that red Mono however.
That ad is another example of things that annoy Aaron, but that probably don't bother anyone else...
People don't know when a saw (or motorcycle, or engine or whatever) was made, yet they decide to pull a date out of their ass. I can't count how many old saw ads I've seen on CL and feebay where they say "1940s chainsaw" or ""from the 50s" when they have no damn clue when it was made. Those three saws are all from the early '60s. Saw an ad for a Homelite 2100 a while ago where they said it as a '50s saw. The damn thing was probably built in the early '70s. It's big, blocky, and heavy..............so it's gotta be from the '50s I guess.
That bothers me almost as much as people calling sprocket-tip bars "roller nose". ####'s up my ebay searches for
real roller nose bars. Happens all the time in the "Swap Meet" thread on AS too. That bothers me much more than people calling guide bars "blades". At least that term
was used by some saw manufacturers at one time.
The chronic mispelling of McCulloch, Poulan, Homelite, Husqvarna, and Stihl on CL and feebay bugs me too. Sometimes it works to my advantage if I can find something that others have missed by using a correctly spelled search term. Still....................how hard can it be to look at the damn saw and write the name down???:bang:
Allright. Enough ranting. Off to take a crap and go to work.
