this thing is back again. did anyone ever figure out what it is?

Appears to be a winch, indicated by the Note: Real In Cable Before Storing Unit.

Can't hold much cable though unless its fine wire. Where's the hook? What's that black line running from left to right with the steel coupling?Perhaps cable or worm drive lube.

being a Mac ... parts should be available, right?

There's about 5 guys in my area that always are listing for saws like that. Drives me crazy they list so often. Just keep clogging up the CL page. I post a saw for sale and in 5 hours it on the bottom....
It must work or why else would they keep plugging away at it?

When I lived in GP I met a few of the guys you're probably talking about. Unemployable is a nice way to put it. Intolerable is more like it.
I'm glad i'm not in Roseburg either, tough saw market for a small town.

While I will grant you the term "antique" is an accidental misnomer in that listing, you are not apprised of the amount of effort it requires to keep up with the volume of internet business we do. Not ALL of our business is on ebay and currently there are about 500 items listed there and continually being added to, not to mention a website and private sales that guys like you have no knowledge of. It must be nice to live in a place like yours where everything is perfect...unfortunately our world is human and prone to an occasional error.
Although your comment was not written as anything as other than critical, we will correct our our slight mistake and make it into something positive.
I get quite a grin out of how often guys who have nothing better to do than point out the errors of others to offset their own personal "shortcomings", I hope that you somehow feel "bigger" for your post.
We examine thoroughly EVERY part and saw we have before we offer them for sale. Rubber components when protected from exposure to the elements are quite serviceable. Do you really believe that parts for the obsolete saws produced have not been setting on a shelf for more than 20 years? Believe it or not there are guys that search for parts for their saws that are in excess of 20 years old. Not every one is trying to work on a cream sickle or a Husqvarna. IMO there were saws that were far superior produced years ago by comparison to the crap that is available today and still in service, and will be in service long after these late model heaps of plastic have been thrown into the dumpster.

Dosko Stump Grinder With Trailer $650 Orange County

Dosko Stump Grinder with trailer $650. I have been trying to figure out how to get this to Utah, but can't figure out a way so I'll let you guys at it. In S. Cal. I believe this is the 691 or comparable with Kohler motor. Seller tells me it just needs a battery and it is good to go. Also tells me it is self-propelled (a big deal because these are heavy machines). Pictures are not good enough for me to judge condition, but these are $8-$9K new if it is the 691. I can't tell, but it may be missing the belt cover. I would get it and pay someone to bring it to Utah, but don't want to take 2 days to make the round trip. I hope someone in S. Cal. can take a look at it. Trailer alone probably worth about $300+.

It is a foregone conclusion that those whose existence has a need for this sort of thing, have...well, a struggle within themselves. And perhaps you could expound on how you think being intellectual and lazy are somehow synonymous? My shop requires no less of me than 14 hour days, 7 days a week...I do not feel at the end of a day that long that I have been lazy.

Friend, you have obviously had a bad day. My $260 yellow light ticket didn't make mine all that great either.

It might be that you're the over critical one here. I said very little in my post and you have chosen to personally insult me, go figure.
Today I searched for a seal for a 361 i'm working on. I saw yours labeled "old". Needless to say, I did not buy it. I still think it's a stupid way to list it.

I appreciate your photos and your insight on saws on other threads. Here it seems you are just venting, making assumptions and preaching.

By "take them out" do you mean flag them for removal? Why "take them out" just because they are another guy looking for saws? If you are at a yard sale where there are chainsaws, do you bully other folks so they stay out of your turf? Do you key their car or slash their tires? Of course not.

Some jackass kept flagging my CL want ad for removal. Kept killing it as soon as I posted it. It was sometimes gone within 15 minutes. I wasn't overposting. Always deleted my ad (so as not to 'clutter' up the index) before reposting. Always waited at least a week. Some ####head saw me as competition and "took me out"...

Got them to lay off for a while by rewording my ad with "I am NOT looking for Stihl chainsaws. Please don't flag my ad, I am ONLY looking for old Homelite, McCulloch, and Poulan/DaytonCraftsman saws for my own use. I am NOT doing this as a business." Worked for a few weeks before somebody "took me out" again. There are a few guys with "wanted, Stihl chainsaws" and "I will take your old chainsaws, mowers, trimmers, and other yard equipment" type ads. One or more of them didn't like me in their turf. I'm done ranting. Time to hit the rack after a LONG day/night.
