Crazy deal here...

$100 for a bad P/C 066. I tried my best at arranging shipping but for the sake of ease, someone picking it up locally works for him. Maybe someone is in the area?

It's not about "ease", from craigslist guidelines-

AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist

I've never even thought about asking someone to ship something. Isn't that like asking at church if anyone's seen any good adult films lately? :)

Hagstar-

The dude would be willing to ship to me IF he didn't have any takers. He simply told me that he's received many, many emails of those interested and it would be easier to sell locally. I don't understand your analogy...

I'm saying I haven't ever asked to have craiglist stuff shipped because the whole point of craigslist is avoiding shipping, craigslist was founded opposing the whole concept of shipping. And today 99% of requests for it are frauds. Indeed I get many requests to ship my item eveytime I advertise there, generally to Asia or Nigeria.

You're not gonna send a fake money order I trust but as a seller I'd never ship a craigs listed item, too nerve racking.

Not sure what your trying to say here but if a deal is LEGIT, it is LEGIT.

If somebody sends me real money and wants me to ship.. and pays for my time.. they get what they want.

scammers are all over but so are HONEST folks..

real buyers give you a phone number or call you and talk. scammers only type. pretty basic.

+1, heck, + 100

The idea of CraigsList is to deal face to face to avoid scams and to keep it local. It is not eBay.

I have relented on a few small items (e.g. books) if the buyer sent me cash up front. No checks. No money orders. No stamps. Etc.

That, and calculating the actual shipping costs up front, eliminates 99.9% of all requests.

I like your way of thinking. I got somebody to ship a saw from Ohio, just called em up, and talked to him. He shipped it out when his money arrived.
I trust craigslist alot more than ebay.

I get some of my best deals on saws from Craigslist, but have to admit that 99% are close enough to drive to and pick them up. I have worked out deals to be shipped, but it almost isn't worth the stress.
