I wished some of you, especially some of you who are cutting wood for fun lived closer to me.I am not being a smart ass here I am dead serious.I have a dump site where I haul my chips and scrap peices of wood. Most of the peices are stuff that I had to cut into four foot peices and down for whatever reason, unfortunately sometmes I have to waste alot of wood so I can get it through fences,or out of backyards, ect.I have huge piles of logs up to about five feet long and some over 48 inches in diameter. Two or three times a year I have to go out there and cut the logs into smaller firewood sized peices and burn them.I cut them smaller so they will burn more complete, and when the fire is out, there is nothing left but a couple of New Holland bucket fulls of ashes.I am doing this as we speak.I have built the fire up for now,and I will be cutting and chucking wood on the fire probably until Monday morning,I will be up all night tonight doing this as well.It is an excellent testing ground for a chainsaw. It is fun for me for about the first hour, then it gets old.If anyone is interested in making a trip and bringing a saw to run the fool out of,I will not object.:help:

Talk to the saw shop(s) in your area. They might let you hang something on their board. I'm sure that you could find someone willing to help you. I would if you were a whole lot closer.

Thanks, Timberhauler, but as for myself, I was born under a tree (true story), I'm surrounded by trees and I'm burning all the wood my stove will consume. I know people who would love to take you up on your kind offer but at the price of gas.....well you understand.

This part of Nebraska is well endowed with cedar trees and new growth is cropping up in pastures and fencelines. Don't know why they didn't grow like this the past 200 years.....why now? They'll ruin a cow pasture in a couple decades need to be eradicated. Many skidsteers equipped with tree shears are providing part-time work for a few ambitious takers.

Maybe even put a sign out front that reads,
"Free firewood.
You cut at own risk"

Alot of people come and get whatever wood they want, and if I happen to be around out there working, then I will help them work up a load...The free wood thing has helped alot.....I'm Spartanburg,SC

That is one idea I would have never thought,of course until I found this site,I didn't know there were so many people who modified their saws and cut wood for fun.I guess if I didn't already do this for a living,I would probably have a few hot saws myself. Thanks for the reply's
