Well, I decided that (mostly for Brad's benefit) that I needed to post some pictures of what the inside of a Solo Twin is all about. It's a surprisingly simple saw. There's some really cool features on these:

The muffler is really cool- it's cast aluminum with internal pipes.

those are some weird spark plugs

Yes, they say "Beru- Ludwigsburg" 225-14 UK4 on them. Very strange. These plugs also look brand new. Since this Twin was an import by another collector direct from Germany, I'm guessing it's a proprietary brand over there.

Well, that's as far as I got tonight. I spent most of today just getting water back to my place and tomorrow will be spent getting a new water heater.

Thanks for posting these pictures of the Solo Twin. There are some really nice shots of the workings of these saws - and it seemes that you have a good solid example of this very desirable old saw. It will be good to see the Solo all cleaned up and ready to run again.

Thanks,

Chris.

Thanks guys, so far it's all good. There's some minor repairs to be had but nothing too complex. I will be stripping this down and installing new bearings, seals, and piston rings while sending the vintage pistons off to be coated (to bring everything back up to factory spec.)

It's a really cool old saw and I definitely agree, very collectible. After I've had my fun, it will likely move on to another collection.
