Today I got a phone call from an old man who wanted me to have a look on his saw, reportedly it was not running right.
When he told me it was a solo Twin, I could barely hold my phone still.....he'll come to my place tomorrow for me to check it out.
Digging up this thread to check out the insides of that weirdo saw.
I am crossing fingers for being able to pry this oldie out of his hands tomorrow....wish me strength, ...and luck....LOLOL.

So, JJ, are you ready to pass this saw on to me?!! I'm having heart palpitations just setting this thread again. There's not another saw I'd rather have!
Look what that old fella brought in today....I nearly fainted when he pulled it out of his trunk....
This saw has been sitting for 15 years on his shelve without use. A quick inspection revealed no spark on either cylinder, so I had to dig into the ignition to get it running again.
I must admit it's the most awesome sound producing one man saw that I have had in my hands so far
and a throttle response that makes modern saws a bit jealous I reckon. Highly collectible.
Bad news is the owner would not let it to me at this moment. Although being 70, the bloke is a fan of racing engines and dirt bikes, so he was dying to get this thing going again. We made a special arrangement though, so I hope it will end up one day in my collection.

Roland- That is one nice specimen for sure. These Twins do usually have ignition problems but new condensers almost always solves that. I hope that one does end up with you eventually.
Sorry for hijacking your thread Jacob, but I thought it fitted right in here. I was a bit concerned about the ignition as well, but I did not have to replace anything.

The Solo Twin is the best sounding saw i've ever heard.

If you scare up a running Solo twin in good shape, I'll (buy and) trade you a ported 372 for it. I'll bet you'd get the same offer from Brad and others here...:msp_thumbup:
Did you watch the model airplane engine video that comes up after the second vid you posted is done? It's cool.........but that KILLS me to see an extremely rare saw butchered to make a model airplane engine. There are SEVERAL manufacturers that make and sell 100cc and larger multi cylinder model airplane engines. No need to kill off a collectable old saw that'd fetch more money than what one of those factory fresh MA engines would cost...:frown:
It's definitely an old gem. I wasn't knocking it by any means. I just have no use for one - lot's of people on here would kill for one - I'm just not one of 'em.
But dayyyyum there ain't nuthin' like a well ported 370-Deuce!
If I ever find one E, it'll be all yours buddy, all yours.

It is extremely ennoying to me that a perfectly good thread about a specific saw or technical debate gets derailed with comments and discussions that have absolutely no relation with the topic involved and really spoil it.
If you have nothing to contribute to the debate, please leave the thread alone an take your jokes and good sport fun somewhere else, there are plenty of threads for that in the off topic forum. It appears sometimes that AS has been taken over by folks that come here for entertainment only. I have good humour an can enjoy a witty comment in a thread, but please don't make every thread your personal playground.

This site is ruined from all of the haneous posting that goes on. What kills me are the ones who post music videos in the threads. First of all the music being posted isn't any good, and secondly, isn't there a thread for posting music videos in the Off Topic forum??
