I will have to say that I have never had someone make me pay for damages that I did not cause. They are usually small so we take care fo them ourselves. I have had one claim and it was paid in full. If I make a mistake I will go out of my way to make the client happy. I believe in fixing my mistakes whether the customer tells me to or not or give them the money to fix it. But if you are getting scammed then fight it. If you give in to it then you should not complain. You can counter sue too to get your money back....maybe...lol

it is a #### sandwich and we all have to take a bite.

Hi, For John 464, I'd sure like to know who your insurance Co is. They sound like the right kind of people to do business with. Our insurance keeps going up every year, with no claims, ever.

Did that payment come with extra warm fuzzies? Teamtree did you see a marked increase in your premium after that? Zanderkoad is right about one thing and one thing only. I make a mistake and I have the money to cover it than why buy insurance? We wouldnt be doing tree work if we had that kind of money to throw away. Kinda like life insurance is betting on the odds of your life. I may spend thousands over a lifetime policy and live to the ripe old age of 100 but if I die young I will at least fall out of the tree knowing that my wife will be a rich widow and my son will be taken care of.

Actually my liability policy is pretty reasonable.

I suppose the warm fuzzy is there. I rest easy knowing I have it.

I generally go to work thinking...don't #### up or you don't get paid as minor mistakes come out of my pocket.

If something goes terribly wrong the insurance is there. I will not lose everything I worked for if something does go wrong. I don't mind paying for that peace of mind.

No jump in premium. It actually went down.

Fixing a mistake is one thing, but when a homeowner wants work done over & above whats contractually stated & then tells you hes gonna file a claim, thats wrong!!

In my case, back in 2006 we did 2-sycamores, complete removals, ground the stumps, home owner to clean grindings, we missed 2 spots as he said, I returned reground thinking all is well...NOoo he takes a shovel & pick starts digging up the stump & spreading dirt cause he wants his yard level, but didnt want to pay the extra!!

to make a long story short, he told me he was gonna say I broke his sidewalk if I didnt regrind the stump for a 3rd time, I figure no matter what I do I will not please him, the work he just made for me will cost me either way, and with his thought process I dont even want to do anything on his property, Id be fixing everthing.

Ekka, stated how insurance works down his way, thats how it should be, My claim adjuster & I while on site talked about this & he told me...I know & it cant be said that you did this but....it will be far cheaper to pay him this amount than having to defend ourselves & you in court.

that check was made out to him, no company came to repair his sidewalk & one of the problems here is as ekka was saying they only repair what was damaged , Not here!! my buddies insurance company told him most likely they will just replace the gutters!! parts & labor= approx. $700.00 his deductible is $500.00, I guess she asked if they were gonna install guttergaurds, my buddy pizzed off said for what!! you dont have any trees!!
