Yup, I removed the welsh plug when I did the carb rebuild yesterday, being careful to puncture it on the outside edge where the holes are not, and blew threw the holes with carb clean but not compressed air before putting the new one in. The carb clean seemed to flow through fine though. That darn saw is just determined to make me hate it.
Welp, you covered that so its like a real hair puller sometimes.BTDT

Farewell to my J-red

Well, I decided to give my 2050 away. It is running good except for the idle problem and as hard as it was to resist CAD I gave the saw to my friend at church whose saw was stolen recently. I told him about the idling issue and he is confident he can get it adjusted and he has more time to fiddle with it than I do. He's a good guy who can't seem to catch a break lately so hopefully this will help him out.

The good Lord blessed me with a new 346xp and I still have my buddy's Husky 50 with my Franken-handle repair that he doesn't want back any time soon. I felt it only right to help a friend when I had two saws, plus the Husky 50, and he had none.

That's a very nice thing to do :msp_thumbup:, Carl. I can't rep you, need to spread it around.

From what I've read the 2050 Turbo would not idle after long use. Something about the crankcase leaking or the muffler would create an issue. So you did good to dump it I guess. On a side note I have one that I bought new and use it only for downed trees on my property. I never burn fire wood ever so it hasn't go much use. It still idles all day on the ground if you want. But like mentioned above it is hard to start from last time the fuel ran out for storage. Once primed, etc it fires up. Trouble is I have bad arthritis now so I'm looking for an easy starting well made saw in the 50cc range. I was leaning towards a 261 mtronic. It has a compression release which might help. The starting of a pull on the 2050 is arm and back knocking.

I had a 2050 and it was a great runner. It took a pretty good pull to turn it over though. I'd suggest a Jonsered 2252 or 2253 instead of a 261. They have of course AutoTune and a compression release that makes them easy to turn over. I looked at a 261 but bought a 2252 instead.

The 2252 was $150 less, is lighter in weight, feels and handles like it is smaller and cuts quite close to the 261. I have friends that sell both so I had a decent chance to compare.

The 261 is bulky and a little heavy for a 50cc saw, and is not a really well handling saw.. They also are known for a slow trigger response (when stock).

Those Jonsereds are much better in those regards.

I picked up a 261cm at the dealer yesterday. It felt front heavy to me. It may of been the 18in bar were my 2050 turbo has a 16in bar and not front heavy. Seems the 261 would fight me. The same dealer has Husqvarna as well but I'm not sure about the angled grab bar. I'll find a Jonsered dealer to feel them up. Is the 2253 heavier then the 2252 and is it a better saw? I do want a compression release.

Old thread but who cares. I have a 2050 that does the same thing. It runs great but cant get it to idle. I have not vac tested it but perhaps I will soon. I'm hoping someone pops up here with the magic bullet. Its a good little saw otherwise. I'd buy a new carb for it if I knew that would fix it.

I just saw a 550xp. Nice. Balanced well for me. Is it the same as the 2253? Or the 2252?

He wanted $550 for the 550xp and throw in $30 worth of oil, files, etc. free. $60 more for the heated handles.

My 2050 Turbo is running great always has except for my developing lower back and shoulder Arthritis since the late 1990's to make it hard to start it after sitting for months. But I should off it before it won't idle either. But then again the little I use it it might outlast me. Ha.
Does the air purge bulb really help to start it? In my case were it may sit empty or not for a while vs the Stihl that doesn't have one?

Update. I went in to see the 550 at my current dealer and it was the same price as the 261cm..I gave the cm another look and I am going to go with that. I like the bar on it and I've never owned a Stihl. I own 2 Husky things and one of them had issues. The 261 didn't seem top heavy to me. A bit heavier then the 550 xp but nothing to sneeze at. So I'll go in soon and grab it.
