Thanks Dean......mine came in day before yesterday......paid more (sigh).....still looking for a rim drive clutch drum for the 111s...in case you happen upon one......Thanks again!!

Geez, paid more?! Ain't that always the way....you look forever, then plunge and the next day or so one comes along cheaper.....lol

I remember once I looked for three yrs on ebay for an item, religiously...then within two weeks, three went through. They tell ya to be patient...but c'mon, three yrs??

LOL!! I know!! Mine are NOS and just like the one Dean posted a link to......thought they looked kinda thin and wimpy for such a big saw......but when held by one tooth and struck against a drill press table the durn thing rung like a tuning fork.......sound was stable and went on and on for like 3-4 mins!! I guess they really put some good steel in those.....still paid more.....but as you said that's seems to always be the way of it!!!

Bought a 621 yesterday off ebay.

$31 plus $20 for shipping. I know the seller and trust his descriptions.
Picture indicated compression was 175 and it has spark. But the shell is cracked and the air filter is missing.
It actually looks fairly clean.

Hopefully I can get this one to saw again.

I was watching that one too.....thinking about getting it for a friend.....but decided against it.......looked like a good start for a project.......those top cover are hard to find without cracks.....almost always start around the air filter like that one.....usually at 10:00, 12:00 and/or 2:00......

621 is a very nice saw...well built...smooth and quiet. 56cc not a huge powerhouse but very respectable.....pull a 20" all day never break a sweat..

A definate must for any Jonsereds collection as that's where the AV revolution began....it was developed from this........the 601 "Raket".....a remarkably smooth saw to cut with though it has no AV.......

No AV on the 601....uggg?!

I'm lucky I don't have white knuckle disease. ....a few more yrs full-time loggin' and I would have been blessed with that. I do have mild carpal tunnel in both hands.....I think that's pretty common for loggers.

Have fun with that 621, Dean. All real silver tops are GOOD saws. The 621 looks like the baby brother to the 80. You can't get hurt at that price...the saw is worth more in just parts!

Nope....that 601 is from '68-'69...... no one had though of AV in those days......compare that 601 to say a Homey SXL or a Mac 10-10 and you'd think it did have AV!!!! It's so much smoother to run than either of those it's not even funny....all about the same size..within a cc or two......601 will bury either of them too...plus it's a lot quieter too.....same basic motor as the 621....

Thanks Robin, very nice Raket. I could probably spend a day at your place just looking and running different saws.
I'm anxious to get the 621 to run. I'm watching a couple of covers on ebay and SawAgain has one that looks decent in used condition.

I first starting loggin' around the early to mid 70's and yeah, I had a few Mac's tossed in my hands on the landing. I certainly remember the vibrating little %astard Mac's. Nobody ever did anything to the 'loaners', so they were almost impossible to start. They traditionally like the young guys working in the riggin' because they can move out of the way faster....in their minds, faster equates to less deaths...lol. But when I was learning fallin', I had an 075....so that had at least some rudimentary AV's. Don't really remember much about that saw now...had a 48" General bar if I remember correctly. Generals were good bars in the woods. They were manufactured in Hubbard, OR I believe. Used to talk to an "old guy" there....probably not any older than I am now....lol

Boy we've certainly stalled on this thread!!!! Haven't done much with saws lately......got a couple coming...well..... one and a half I guess would be more accurate!! One is another 521E...very nice looking..complete....love those electrically heated handles!!! The other is a 621 missing quite a few parts that I got from two separate auctions.......made an offer on each and he accepted.....$50.00 delivered...good start to a planned project.....I think I have everything it needs in stock......may have to buy a muffler...can't remember what I got......have to start pawing in boxes......any muffler from a 62/621 to a 90 will fit.......want one of those with the top louvers.....

Well, I think it's OK to blame the Holiday season for traffic here....lol Although it does ebb & flow for sure.

Speaking of louvers....I never checked but wonder if the louver pattern was basically the same on the 80/90/910. IOW, the louver itself? We talked once in here about actually making a louver for a 80....mine is almost trashed(bottom louver on my 80). I think I have an extra 90 muffler and some 910 mufflers with louvers. Heck, if the four bolt pattern is the same, I'll just put one of those on the 80....

I resemble the "pawing through boxes" comment...lol
