Any of you guys watching the thread in the saw forum about 3D printing a 70E flywheel fan????? Cool stuff...and it's done..... headed to be tested.....hope it holds up during testing......3D printing could be very helpful on old NLA parts......of course we are on the ground level of 3D printing, no matter how amazing it seems to us.

They are starting to print food......not a big jump from here to the "Enterprise's" replicators......

Definitely very cool. We could probably keep one of those printers busy for a while.

I've mentioned 3D printing before in here. It's in its infancy, but shows great promise. I have a friend in a car forum that is buying plastic 3D parts for his Benz...seat gears and the like. Paying like $35+ ea and they are shattering on use. He's not a happy camper. There's a whole engineering science devoted to plastics/composites and just having a machine burp out a part doesn't guarantee it will work as originally designed. It seems to me if you're going to this length, some overkill on the parts/materials should be considered.

As I said before, if it's finally done right and the parts hold up, there will be many hobbies saved and less to the landfill. Mag parts, pot metal & alloy....all those miserable little parts that are NLA. The applications in medicine are astounding....talking about printing organs etc. Why not, let me die knowing something truly amazing and sci-fi is happening!

I looked at that one last nite Kev, I agree with your price tag.

I mean it would be OK if it had the parts you desperately needed like, cases, a crank and P&C etc. I've got a couple of extra 90's....so I'm not looking for that right now....just time to put some saws together! At least the seller was honest and stated that he cannibalized the saw to make another whole.

Found a set of those seals on Ebay, got em ordered, will see how they do. Is the 7mm gonna make a difference in how far you set the seal in the saw? Just wondering since the originals are 6mm

Sooooo, I finally got some time to tear apart the ebay 630 Super I grabbed a couple of months ago. Cylinder is scored, which has me thinking as to which way to go to resurrect it. 272, 670, 268 or another 630 jug. I've searched a bit on here, but still can't decide. There was real great thread on this recently, but that was the one thread I couldn't find believe it or not. Is the "big bore" 52mm kit that Simonian and little red barn offer essentially a 272 "kit"?

Not on these saws...just put them in flush with the bottom edge of the tiny chamfer.

All of the above cyls except the 670 will be a fairly easy transplant due to the samness of the intake and impulse.

I think the lil Red Barn's kit is Asian....Simonian's is a meteor......but yes more or less similar to a 272

Ok, thanks. I'm probably going with the 272 swap then. I may try to find a used oem cyl first just to try and keep the cost down, but is nice to know that kit is a good one and one stop shopping.

Yes the Simonian's one looks to eliminate most issues for the builder....and give you a serious power upgrade from a regular 630....do you know what # carb your 630 has?

It has a 225 in it, which I believe isn't right if its a super. I DO have a spare 237 from another project. Not sure of the differences in carbs throughout this series and the advantages. I might need a different carb?

225 would probably run it fine.......237 might run it a little better. Some 630s came with a 118 which was a smaller bore and I would not use that for a larger displacement saw.

Geeese.......I've been collecting parts for another 621 build........doing good.....then.......I found one on ebay.....dirty as sin......but quite low hr under all the crap.....came with a Windsor B&C...complete $65.00....couldn't pass it up...arrived at the shop today......silly me.......might build two to once....got enough parts I think.......

Lol....familiar story. Wait and wait then decide to scavenge parts for a rebuild...then a real sleeper turns up on the bay, complete...buy it then realize you have a mountain of parts. That's exactly what happened to me with an 80. Hardest thing I ever did was break it down and catalog all the parts...my gut was screaming to make it whole again! Might as well build another 621, Robin....hehe

LOL!! Here's the pics .............have to look under the grime to see the jewel....this is just the way she came out of the box.....

Oh man....that saw is just dirty....I can see the low hr jewel under there! That 90 I bought off the bay from Arkansas was exactly the same. In fact, it was so dirty I let it sit in a box for another six months because I thought I got taken again....lol Now it's my best running, low hr saw. It had some kinda green staining on it too I was never able to identify, but most of it came off.

Great find Robin!

Here's a guy on the bay with a NOS heated handle for a 910:OEM-Old-Stock-Heated-HANDLE-for-Jonsered-910-Chainsaw

Don't see many of those for sale....but it's lacking the switch, flywheel generator etc. I'd be tempted, but I scored a full-wrap for my 910 and want that on there.

There's also an 80 that's been broken down for parts:Jonsereds-Jonsered-80-Chainsaw-Parts-or-Repair

Again, you can find an assembled saw for that sometimes, maybe even running......I'd like a full-wrap for my 90, but I don't need the rest of the stuff. Like most full wraps on the 80/90 it's been cut off where it would terminate back to the saw with that unobtainium mount. I have the mount NOS, so I should probably hold out for the unmolested full-wrap like I have on my work 80.

LOL!!! That's what happened to my 90 or . . . . . 90's.
And now the same thing is happening to my 621 or . . . . . 621's.

My sleeper 621 turned out to be really good looking so I'm building it up. I abandoned the split cases for now.
