I didn't even clean it!!!!!! Came out of the box like that!!!!!
Although the PO did call me because it was leaking oil, shipper forgot to drain the tank.

Wow!!! Just having it clean is worth half what you paid!!! Good score!! My latest 621 is not like that....at least not on the surface!!!...LOL!!!

You sure find some sweet looking saws, Dean!

That chain guard has never seen a chain come off....or was replaced....looking at the rest of the paint, most likely original. There's usually some chain rash showing other than the guard. And in my way of thinking, if there's no chain rash, then the saw is usually low hr. A nice perk about full-wrap handles is that they usually take most of the chain rash.

I never had a pro saw that didn't shuck a chain every once in a great while.....function of very hard pro use. Using my 80 at work in the fencing business....I think I had the chain come off once in the last five yrs...but then, the saw is loafing compared to its earlier life with me.

Whaaaaaat? I NEVER had a saw come out of the box that wasn't filthy!! In my experience, usually the PO's have just given up on the saws or the tanks have gas syrup in them and won't start....lol. I guess I thought there wasn't anybody left that gave a damn....even when I buy used saw parts from individuals, they're filthy. I just figured it was part of the 'game' and that the few secs it would take to clean a part is just taboo....lol

Dean, what does the inside of the gas tank look like? You need a new oil cap for sure...that's been butchered.

The inside of the tank was crystal clear. Paint is nice and solid, no buildup or rot of any kind.
Flushed the crankcase and bearings with brake cleaner. oiled with a spot of Marvels to lube it again.
original piston was scored on the exhaust side.

From the pics;
The points plate had everything but the points. Fixed that.
The washers were there but the clutch drum and sprocket were missing. Fixed that.
Missing the lower half of the rear handle. Fixed that.

installed new caber rings tonite and put the top end together.
I'll get some pics this weekend.

Looking good Dean......you're gonna like that one.........not so much power as you're used to but a very "comfortable" saw to use.....friendly ol' tool....

Thanks Robin, turned it over this morning and had good spark, compression was 170 cold with new rings.
I think it's time to put gas in it!!!

The pull handle is hard plastic but scuffed a bit.
I pulled enough to get a couple putts out of it, then the rope broke on the next pull.
I hate when that happens.

LOL!! Me too.......That's why I replace the rope on every new saw I get before I try to start it...unless it new already.....keep three 200 ft rolls of different size pull cord on a rack right by the bench......
8 times out of 10 the handle is hanging down the side of the saw 6 inches or more so it needs attention anyway.....that's one of my pet peeves...the hanging handle thing.....grrrr.....

Ahhh...couldn't tell by the pic(wait, I think we had this conversation over another, bigger pic!) . Well, better the rope breaks than the recoil spring. Some of the aftermarket springs last about twenty pulls, they tell me. That oil tank cap is gonna cost ya, unless you have a spare. .

Just as an FYI, if that oil cap ever breaks out in the field, a NPT fitting plug works just fine. And no I didn't figure that out 'cause I'm a plumber, someone told me.....lol

Me three...I get pissy if the handle doesn't seat itself fully into the cover recess like it's supposed to. I see a saw with the handle hanging down about six inches, you better not hand it to me....lol!

We kinda did, but you were commenting on the non-OEM handle on my workbench-of-a-queen 90.
Which btw - I did take out for a bar-deep jaunt into a slab pile today.
Damn I love that thing.

My best running saw at presnt-90. I find myself leaning into that saw while buckin' a lot harder than I probably should. After all, it ain't six cubes....lol.

Check out the extra support arm under the muffler. I did try to fit it to a 90 but the spacing didn't line up. Fits fine on my 621.

The muffler bolts are longer because of the extra shield. Anyone know why there were two different options?

Interesting.......I have several of those muffler types with the shields and top SS exhaust louvers...very nice heavy duty units...don't get dented up like the regular muffler, but can't say I ever seen one with a tab that attaches to the case bolt.......cool......indeed...
