Lol...that bar's an insult to the saw. You gotta cough up the $10-$14 @SawAgain for the pull handle...I think most of the old J'reds used the same pull handle.

Nice lookin' saw for a little feller! Repaint the top and the saw would look new. I don't know what kinda silver would match and hold up....whatever J'red used didn't seem to hold up, but the red sure does.

Kevin
All of their pull handles are out of stock except for the cheap-o hard plastic ones. I think they're only $3-ish.

ok, I need a bar for the 621 and I'm confused;

Was looking at a 20" Total bar on eBay. Seller says it fits a jonsered and gives the model number of the bar.

I have a 3/8-8 sprocket on the saw. How can I tell if the holes on the bar are big enough?

Dean,
The space is 10mm. If memory serves me right in Oregon bars it was D024, Carlton 71 and Windsor JR. Husky bars can be 9.5mm which will sometimes work TIGHT or need a little filing. The bar mount is totally obsolete...I've heard of guys even machining different bar studs to make newer bars work. Ebay is a great place to find obsolete bars....or maybe someone here will have something.

I don't like changing factory stuff, so I find the bars. Robin must run into this all the time on older J'reds...see what he says. What the seller has won't fit your J'red unless it's 10mm. Modern J'reds don't have this problem.

Yep.....hard to come by in that 10mm mount......the 621 and up to the 111s all have that mount. Pretty much obsolete by most bar makers......however....(and I could be wrong) I think you can still get the Total Super Bar in that mount special order from a Jonsered dealer. I would check with spike60 on here.....he is a sponsor and a Husky /Jred dealer as well as an expert on these old Jonsereds. He is not on here a lot these days but you could try a PM.....if he doesn't get back to you in a timely manner you can give him a call at Ashokan Turf & Timber in Shokan NY.....ask for Bob.......he's a good guy and knows his stuff!!!!!

I generally grab decent bars off ebay if they seem to be in good shape and the price right....usually Windsor or Total........occasionally an old Oregon but I try to stay away from them as the old style tips are hard or impossible to came by as well.........matter of fact I am waiting for a pair of ebay bars right now...one Windsor 20" and a Total 20" with 4 chains...$40 BIN with $15 shipping.....

The Total bars are very nice, high quality bars from Tsmura (Japan) imported by Tilton Equipment, rebadged Total and sold as OEM through Jred dealers in the Eastern Division. Can't go wrong with a Windsor Speed Tip either ...good bars too...

Your 621 would have came stock with a 16"(probably a Sandvik) on the East Coast....but I prefer a 20" on a 621.....you don't see 18" bars around much in that mount for some reason.......

I got stuck with a bunch of those old Oregon bars that had the three rivet, half moon style replaceable tips. They only made those a fews yrs and it happened to be when I was loggin'. There's a member here who has a whole bucket of the tips in .404 with the rivets. But I can't ever get him to act on it...wants to trade over cash, but I don't have anything he wants...lol

Anyway, the 80 wasn't supposed to run thicker than .058 gauge which makes it even a rarer duck. I run .063 on the 90 and so far no problems.

Thanks so much guys, here's what I'm looking at;

GENUINE TOTAL BAR FOR HUSQVARNA /JONSERED CHAINSAWS. 20" BAR 3/8 .050 72 D.L. SIMILAR TO OREGON 200SLHD009.

Is there any way to tell by this description if this will fit my saw with the 10mm mount?

Just ask him Dean, to measure the bar opening with a micrometer. He should know though if he sells a lot of bars. I can't tell by the ad. As I said, the Husky bars can run 9.5mm and made to work pretty easily......sometimes they'll work right off without modification. I've got one running on the 90 I think, or did.

Kevin

It's a gamble...the large Husky mount is 9.5mm and depending on how sloppy they machined the opening, it could bolt on, but figure no to be safe. I have a Husky bar mount that fit right on the 90 without modification. Modifying bars sucks because they're pretty hard and it helps to have access to a machine shop. I modified a Carlton bar for my 80 and I'll never do that again.

Dean, if he's tellin' you that it will bolt right on the 621, he's lying....have him measure the opening which should be 9.5mm.

Kevin

ok, thanks guys, I'll keep looking.
If you bump into anything keep me in mind.
Appreciate the help. :)

Will do......you otta check out Bob as I posted earlier...........even if they can't be had from the dealer, he is a very good guy to know if are going to keep acquiring these old saws....knows his **** for sure.

The two I was expecting showed up today.....the Windsor is in good shape........fair amount of use but straight and the slot nice and even...tip was tight too.....edge it and square it be good to go.......the Total was in better shape wearwise but someone had blued it in a couple places from running the dull as hoes chains that came with them...other wise didn't show hardly any wear. Quickly ran a file over both sides and could not tell the difference between the blued parts and the clear coated parts...didn't seem to be case hardened nor the temper drawn....clean up OK I guess.....tip was mint.... so all in all didn't get took.....everything useable with a little chain grinding and light bar rehab....$40 for two 20" bars in the old Jonsereds mount and four chains...chains will clean up at about 50%...rakers haven't been touched....he charged me $15 to ship.....PO sticker said $14.11....close enough........

Ebay is a great place to find the proper J'red mount bars. As always, watch your as% for liars and cheats. I scored a slightly rusty, never used bar from a member here. 38" Carlton .063 guage, .404 with the 10mm mount. I deemed it too much bar for the 90, but would still fit my Husky if I wanted to use it.

A gift from my brother, coming soon.

Wow!!! That is a great gift!!!! A little fuzzy from sitting but looks complete!! Man I love the art deco look of the old Jonsereds from the 601 back to the X series saws!!! Great to see one in unrestored condition for once......I am envious to say the least.......Congrats!!!!!
