Just picked up a MAC 3200 at a pawn shop for 50 bucks. Got it home and suprisingly it started on about the 5th pull.

Besides new gas, oil, sparkplug, what needs to be checked on the saw before I really dig into some timber?

I noticed that the auto brake does not work. Is that something that can be fixed?

Also, need to know where I can get a manual for it, any ideas?

Great fourm! Glad I found it!

Congratulations! Manuals for old saws pop up on ebay now and then. The Intertec Manuals are pretty useful for working on saws old or new(they cover tons of models in one book). You might want to check fuel and impulse lines on any used saw you get. I don't remember the 3200-Can you post a picture?

I am also a novice, but I have bought a total of 4 used saws and here is what I have run into.
Remove and disassemble the starter mechanism. Pull the spring out, clean and oil it.
Check to see if there is a plastic bushing between the center post and spool, it may be warn.
Remove all the covers to expose the cylinder head and clean all the build up off the fins. Engine cleaner works well for that.
Flush the gas tank and replace the fuel filter and check the hose, it probably needs to be replaced as well.
Clean and or replace the air filter.
Don’t forget to take a good look at the bar, it may need some service as well.
If the chain needs to be replaced, make sure to put on a new sprocket as well.

Good luck and have fun
