Where's waldport

Waldport is by newport.....where free willy the whale was at one time before enviro's shipped him up to greenland or iceland......alder prices are reall high right now so we are trying to get all the alder jobs we can.....i love it no pitch....haha

Take care, Alder can be tricky to cut, but you probably already know that.
I lived in your fair city, wow, can it be 4 years ago? Kayaked in the bay a lot.
But, too many people moving to the coast for me. Be careful....:greenchainsaw:

Hey a local

Hi Tryon,
You buying that 660 from Dave at Alsea Bay Power?
I really like dealing with him, they treat you right.
There's not many of us on here from this neck o the woods.
Congrads on your graduation.
Good luck on the logging career, wished I had gotten into logging when I was your age.
You work for the quarry there in Waldport?
Keep in touch.

Welcome and good weather on the new job!
Just a curious Q here, what is the alder being used for? Milled for furniture lumber? I know that wayyyy back (well not that far back, late '70s) there was a pretty decent buck in big alder saw logs but I haven't heard much about it for the last several years. Most of what was coming off the big Island was going to furniture makers on the mainland or being shipped south. I've seen a few very nice pieces of cabinetry work done in alder and it finishes up beautifully, sort of reminds me of red maple or sometimes like white mahogany, but pretty stuff brittle as it may be. Hm, sure burns nice :)

Serge

There is still big bucks in Alder saw logs. It's crazy what a load of Alder saw logs is goin' for.

Curious... did you really need an 066 to buck Alder? Whatever you think you need... but that is a lot of saw to be packin' around limbin' and buckin' Alder.:dizzy:
