Permit or no permit, there are some things too dangerous to try with just an internet tutorial. Add to this mix a remote location and no help - a sure recipe to find your name in the news and the obits. Ron
Ron,

That's what I concluded, see #10, I only waded back in because I assumed D&B Mack had read #10 and I'm curious and I consider the leaner an intellectual challenge. That challenge is one of primary reasons I like to clear trails, besides not much exercise pushing a mouse.

Still to dangerous for my current skills/knowledge/tools.

Thanks for your post.

I know (and I appreciate the good judgement shown as shown by my "Like"). My post was not directed at you; it was directed at those who were seriously prodding you to go for it or thinking of doing it themselves based upon the tips given. I enjoy the intellectual challenge of wood cutting as well. In fact, rootballs are my favorites and leaners next but the coaching someone to take these on by internet is a sure way to get someone killed. Ron

Buck off far side, top down near side, underbuck nearside slightly offset, repeat. Simple as pie. Watch yer toes and the way the kerf is opening. No need to pack in heavy wedges this way either.
