McCulloch used genuine wool felt for those; wool will absorb water and pass the fuel. There was an advertisement showing someone pouring soda pop and sawdust into the fuel tank with the caption "don't try this with any other saw".

Mark, there is an old dealer up here that used to do just that at tractor shows and demos...they would dump out the gas and pour Coke in...he still remembers vividly the look on peoples faces:laugh:

Bryan, somebody put it together that way because it has MONSTER compression .... :givebeer:

Foot on air filter cover, a starter handle in each hand?

Or tie each handle to separate hitches and drive in opposite directions?

Looks like too much saw there, I need an adult!

You need a right hand start? I have at least one, and it's way cleaner than what's on that 7-10a I posted. PM if you're interested.

Wow, $20.00 plus shipping for a cp-70. Nice.

Yeah I practically BEGGED him to buy that CP-70 to keep me from buying yet another unneeded project.:D

Definitely a nice find.

Can those mounts be found, and if so, had reasonably? Obsolete mounts and boots are what keeps me from entering the comfortable age of McCulloch, hence me sticking to 7-10a's and pm700's, and thanking my gloves for their service.

I've seen them parts around but never paid close attention to them. I can use my 6-10 bucking logs all day but if I have to limb with it long the vibes start to get to me. I'm hopeing the p/c are in good shape on that cp70.

Well, I was able to get all the parts I needed for the cp70 train wreck from a few members here except for a CP-70 air filter cover. Any body have one they're willing to let go?.

So at some point this winter, I'm going to take on my first restoration, a pm60.

I have a new shortblock on the way, and have a new clutch and starter. I'm a little bit torn on using the starter I have, however, because it's black.

Other NOS pieces I'd like to source are:

Points/Condensor/Coil

Gaskets (intake & muffler)

Oil pumps (or at least gaskets and innards)

I have trading material or some $$$.

A silver/grey 10-series pulley cover?

I found this among my new Mac stuff. Any idea what saw(s) came with this? Never seen anything like it. I put it next to the typical Mac black for contrast.

Maybe it has been painted?? Is there any over spray on the roller? The roll pin is painted, but maybe that's normal

Nailed it. There's a little bit of paint on the roller.

It's used, as there's a good amount of sawdust packed in the perimeter groove on the backside of it.

And the back is black. I probably should have flipped it over to check earlier, but I just couldn't stop looking at it. Soooo shiny....

I guess I could put it on a chain and hang it from my neck.
