Well I was going to wait until I had this big saw sorted out, but I couldn't help but post it up. This is a machine that I have been trying to find for a number of years and haven't been able to get hold of one until earlier this week.
The saw is a McCulloch 895C and is the last of the big gear drive saws from the company. The saw differs from the standard 895 in that it has a poppet type decomp valve, and a larger chrome bore 105 cylinder. The cylinder cover is the same as the SP105/125 saws and the muffler cover is also identical to the SP105/125 saws, however the front of the cover is cut off to allow it to fit with the gear drive R/H recoil assembly.
I will remove the non std handle, recoil, falling spike and hand guard assy before replacing these with the correct parts. The saw will be returned to its proper configuration.
That is super cool Chris, I believe you are the only one that has one. Randy Mac told of once handling one at a dealer long ago. I've toyed with the idea of making a reproduction one myself.
I am putting this 895C up as my rarest McCulloch chainsaw as it is the only one I have ever seen.
