Fun times ahead, a PM55 and a Mac 47

Nice saws Mark!! I have got to get to a gtg someday. Other than the gear drive are there any differences between the Super 250 and the 660?

Sp-80

New to me.. Found on cl, It barely ran, fuel delivery problems. A new carby kit, fuel line and filter, spark plug and some time on the block with a screwdriver was all it took. I just mounted the NOS bar and new sq. ground chain in 3/8". Too bad its raining buckets outside, won't get to really test it this weekend.

Nice saw, Congrats on your find.

Oh and tighten up that chain.:)

Will a 7-10 and PM 700 P/C bolt on the case and rod of a 10-10 and PM10-10? If they will is there anythingelse to deal with when doing it? :monkey:

That's pretty much it. The 650 and 660 models have a very different gear box from the other large frame saws, very compact unit that fits behind an oversize clutch cover. If you didn't look closely you might not notice that it is a gear drive saw at all.Mark

So in theory if I had enough parts to build a Super 250, and found a gear box and oversized clutch cover I could have a 660.

No. But, you can mix and match parts to use the complete 700 shortblock. But actually, it's faster to just switch the filter covers...:greenchainsaw:

It's ALIVE! Ran a tank of fuel thru it today cutting up green walnut. Not a lot of omph but OK for a worn out POS. Weighs 1 1/2 # less than my Craftsman.

Thanks again Brian.

Now if Calvin just comes up with a piston w/ring, we be fat dumb and happy.

Good job!

Even though they are a joke of a saw they are nice and light...

Yes if I had a new ring I would throw it in because I am pretty sure the compression is very low. The saw is pretty simple to work on.

There was a 650/660 clutch cover on feebay recently. IIRC, it was in the cheapchainsawparts store. Think he had the AF cover from that saw too, and possibly other parts. Maybe the gearbox....

Just for Randy Mac, from the Iowa GTG today

In case you can't make it out, that's a pair of Super 250's

And one of the Super 250's parked beside a 660

New acquissitions Mark? Nice. Tried out the McCulloch 77 yesterday evening. The damn metering diaphragm is not working righ. Appears to be leaking to the 'dry' side. PM to follow......

More Mcculloch geardrive

Got this 895 a week or so ago from a fellow member.
Thanks Walt.
I gave it a carb rebuild, Cleaned and gapped the points.
Gave the saw a good cleaning. Found these nice H&S
big dogs, Has a nice Mac hardnose bar with 9/16 chain.
She's a bit grabby in the cut because the rakers have
been cut lower than they need be.

Hey Brian,

Do you need an IPL for that Super 44A? A certain creamsicle guy who's a closet Homelite and McCulloch fan just sent me a crap-pile of IPL's. The S44A is amoungst them, and I could forward it to you. If you need it, PM me your email addy....:givebeer:

Brian, there is a little more to it than just adding the gearbox. There is a different fuel tank since the bar needs to mount further ahead to accomodate the gear box with the output shaft further ahead.

I will try to send the 660 IPL by e-mail so you can see the similarities and differences for yourself.

Thanks Mark, got it. Its close but not quite the same. I was just wondering how hard it would be.
