Krypton "Sunburst" yellow

Rust-Oleum makes a Sunburst Yellow that's a decent match for the brighter shade used on certain era saws. Used it on my SP81. Maybe a little too bright for some, but worked for me as a quick rattle can solution. Used Matte Black for the air filter cover. The tank came from Mark and was already painted with a real nice textured finish. Undercoating of some kind? Don't recall offhand. Maybe he'll chime in with the particulars.

If anyone has a RH start saw with the sawdust guard (screen) in bad shape I now have a generous supply of NOS parts. The same one is used on the 10 Series and large frame saws.





I also found a large quantity of these bar plates specifically designed for the gear drive saws with the bar mounted on the left side of the gearbox as shown above.

Rustoleum fine texture black, I think the code is 7220. My local Menards where I get most of my supplies has not had it in stock for months but I keep looking every time I go in.

I think the Rustoleum Sunburst yellow is a good match for the later Pro Mac saws, I have used some different Industrial Safety Yellow or John Deere yellow for the older saws and SP models. Sometimes you have to use a light coat of one over the top of another to try and get the shade very close.

One thing I have been noticing going through parts is that McCulloch seemed to give up trying to match the yellow on later replacement parts like the starters, flywheel housing, and clutch covers and just made them black. I even have a few that were clearly painted black over a previous coat of yellow.

I had some full wrap bars made up for the large frame CP/SP saws. They are a bit heavier than the originals.

Rescued another Mac today. Found an ad on CL for 2 saws and a blower for $25. The Mac ended up being a real nice pro Mac 60. It was the guys father inlaws saw. He said it's been in storage for 35 yrs. Looks like a nice low use saw. I've never had a pm60 before, how do they go?

The 60 is a great saw with the right carburetor. I have a sp60 which uses the same piston and cylinder. I put a fully adjustable carburetor on it to really make the saw run better for me. The fixed jet carbs likely saved the engines of many macs and they run well but for me, they have some oomf left unused. The pm60 seems pretty gutsy by my account. Nice saw
I also noticed the mystery saw we have been seeing shares the same muffler you have there. Interesting

I give up? What are u seeing wrong? I see points box, teflon washer, felt washer, teflon, flywheel, fw nut. Starter pawl and its parts look ok. Flywheel key seems right.
Help me out?

Every other picture I have seen shows the pawls going in the other direction. And the reason I'm looking at pictures of them is because I forgot to take a photo of mine before I pulled it apart.

I think I have them the correct way around? Are the springs installed correctly?

Nice! That 60 looks and sounds pretty strong. And I hadn't even noticed it was a fixed jet carb.

Yep, you did well. If they spring back to the center then thwy are correct. That picture was just a different angle is all. Looks right though on your fw

I haven't been here in a few days. I've been really busy.
The first saw off the truck to have spark and mostly complete was a PM700, so I went with it.
It had more problems than I expected, but my hardheadedness prevailed. It still needs rings and another oil box/lower crankcase.
I don't know yet if the piston will even come out. The vid will explain.

X2 on the walbro sdc 37, 37a,. Also the sdc 18 is great.

Walbro also made a sdc 65. That is a fully adjustable carb which has both adjusters at an angle for the fuel tanks with no boot.

I just looked theres a guy selling a sdc 65 on ebay. $30 obo. He has 2 of them.
