Hoping someone here can give me a bit of info.
Was digging around in my parts saws and found
a mostly complete Mcculloch 1-86, Don't know much
about Mccullochs. Are these worth fixing, Don't want
to put alot of time and funds into a piece of crap saw
if you know what i mean.
Also, What size bar can i put on it. I have a good
16 inch bar with i think 3/8 chain that i could put on

Lee

No, That is a California saw it won't run back there.:D
It needs to go back right away and not to those guys
up north.:msp_biggrin:

I think you want a NU17 in trade for that.
Sorry Lee buddy, the 1-63 is going to MN.

Nap time, my BD meds are kickin' in. The Doc beached me today for hypertension, rang the bell, so to speak. 195/98
yes I am an idiot.

My doctor dinged me when mine got past 140/80.. I sure wouldn't leave it at where yours is, there are things you can do for it.

Whoa buddy, you need to take it easy. I know that I'd like you to stay around this forum for a while.

Take it easy!!! Sounds like a good reason to take a little vacation. Hope the medication works .

195, man thats bad news, please don't sneak a peak over at the Homelite thread, we need ya calm and relaxed. Just visualize acres of 4' pine and cedars, kinda flat ground and a yellow gear drive with a bout 4 gals of fuel on hand.

Nah -you're not an idiot - take it easy and work with the doc getting your meds balanced out. ... wishing you peace.

lots of us have genetics and lifestyle working against us. in the 'misery loves company' department, my cholesterol was 290 at age 28 and 190lbs. great bowling score. not so great relating to blood goo.

oh, and just round up to 200/100. :msp_thumbup:

Yep, take care, friend.

I'll be a better influence and cool it with the karts and liquor...

Well, the liquor part anyway. Been into too much of it lately anyway, darn winter.

The PM800 is back in service! Got out this morning to try it, runs great. I am amazed that such a small intake leak made it run like it did. The intake boot was fine. I just made a new gasket and used Permatex Aviation Form-a-gasket on all the surfaces. As for the piston scoring on the skirt, it isn't nearly as bad as it looks in a picture. There are lines on the skirt, but no grooves or anything that catches a fingernail. Thanks to all for your advice and opinions.

RandyMac, I see what you mean, this thing has the biggest freekin' muffler I have ever seen on a chainsaw! Covers the whole bottom of the saw. It's also the most quiet McC I have ever run. Just doesn't sound right.

Here is a video of it in some oak.

Glad you are up and running again. Ron

Take care of yourself. I wish I had read this post before bothering you by PM with my minor questions. I'll be praying that your hypertension eases.

The packages arrived today!!! Opened it up as soon as I could. - NO!!! :( What a disappointment, the Seller send me a different saw. I'm not sure what it is - no serial number and a vented air filter cover. It does have AV. I am waiting to hear from the Seller and hoping it is just a mix up. I'm not touching the saw further to identify it until I hear from the Seller. I haven't opened the bar package and won't until I hear from the Seller.

I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

Ron

It appears to be a honest mistake. I'll let you know how it works out. Ron

No worries lad, I'm sitting on my butt.
Dropped to 180/85, should be back to normal operating levels by next week. Been here before, I tend to run hot anyway in all things, flirting with the red zone is a way of life. I'm paying for past deeds.

I have been looking at some pine stumps down the street, might ask them if they need cut.

Hope you're talkin' about the folks farther north than me. I'd love to have that 1-86 sitting next to my red 100cc gear drive...:D

You're not an idiot. You do need to get that under control though. We need you here pissing on people's boots for years to come.

...But you sure need to take care of yourself.
Good people belong on top of the grass.

Lee

I agree Lee. Well put.

I've been sitting on mine for almost 4 months straight - pretty boring. Just a few more months and it'll be hot, snakey and buggy - not my favorite time of the year for cutting, me being used to the easy life. Hopefully, the docs will release me before then. Ron

All right people with big Mac fetishes... I broke the recoil rope twice on my 850 trying to get it started after I put the new fuel line, filter, and cap gasket on... I used that orange Stihl filter on my 610, as the old one fell off into the tank when I was pulling the fuel line out to look at said filter. So I went out and bought the big black Stihl filter... and put that on the new fuel line (w/out the bell) I will say it appears all fuel leaks are now fixed... as it now has a cap gasket and the fuel line has a very snug fit in the hole thanks to teflon tape.

So, anyone use/have used an excellent starter rope that should be put on big cc saws like my Mac, please post with the brand of the pull rope. I really need a new one. BTW, I was not using the 'sissy' valve to try to start the saw today. :D

Being a manly specimen show off means you get to fix the starter. Been there, done that. Shouldn't take bridge cable to start that saw, any saw shop, small engine shop should have some braided nylon starter cord. Use the decomp. The saw isn't as young as you, and won't heal with rest either.
