I got my 1-72 running. Had to change the fuel tank. The other one
had a nice big hole in it. Changed and fixed a few other parts on it too.

Sweet looking 1-72 Cliff,
Looks in very nice shape,
Especially the very nice full
wrap handle bar. Those are
usually all scared and bent up.

I actually was implying kudoos for trying to change the meaning of OMG and curious if it was indeed intentional. Teenagers these days use OMG on text message and the phrase "Oh My God" so much it makes me want to puke. Now when I see OMG on AS I know it means you and not the bad phrase and I was trying to say "good job" to you.

I apologize.

Brian

Apology accepted.

I collect the old McCulloch chainsaws... those made from 1948 to 1965.
I am the guy who collects the Old Macs.
I started using Old Mac Guy on other forums and use that handle on whichever forums in which I'm a member. Other people started calling me OMG. Sometimes, I use that acronym myself. It means "Old Mac Guy"... to me, anyway... and I think to some other chainsaw collectors...

Close, Lee...
But that OMG is down the hall in the Pre-Teen and Children Department...
Yer monkey can get his tail pulled there... :p

Now... Old Mac GEESES... yeah, this is the place!

painted the ingraved part of my goose bar and then sanded it down to highlite the logo..

I use to use this trick on stamped serial numbers a lot to help ID stuff.

I have a question for you Mac experts. Is there any modern bars that will fit a Mac 300?

My uncle asked me the other day if I could find him a bar for his. I don't have the saw here in front of me but I know it's been converted to 3/8's pitch as I did put a rim and drum sprocket on it a couple of years ago.

I need at least a 24" bar for it.

Mark,
I have a couple 36 inch bars that are really nice and a 24 that is pretty rough but, I think it can be cleaned up. Let me know. They are all hard nose bars.

Thanks Jay, but I remembered you mentioned the 36" bars but I think there too long. If you just mean rust on the 24" we maybe on to something!

Still wondering if a modern bar could be made to work on it, I guess I just need to go get it, so I can see what I'm working with.

I need to get him fixed up so I can deal him out of that big rare one we talked about.

Yes, I remember your agenda, anything I can do to help.

Pm 650

Broke out the PM 650 for the first time today...

Everything seems good, bar bolt repair seems solid with no oil leak.

However, After I ran it for awhile the recoil didn't want to engage and when I popped it off the starter sprawls were very sticky. I moved them a few times back and forth and the freed up and I was able to start again. The cord went back in pretty slow after that. I don't have a users manual. Am I supposed to be lubing the sprawls or something?

:dunno:

Hey Mark,

I bought a couple of Super 250's from ***** Joe, one had a Stihl bar on it that Joe wanted to keep and I wasn't smart enough to check it out in detail.

I did buy an 18" Oregon bar with a 10 mm slot to put on my SP125 for fun (180SLHD025 .050 / 1.3 3/8 66 30770 NJ), I had to drill some overlapping holes in the bottom of the groove so the bar oil could reach the chain but it works very nicely.

I thought I has the only nut. I have a 16" and a race chain on my modded Homelite 2100. It sure is a hoot albeit heavy and extremely loud. It obviously needs a much larger sprocket. OOPS, forgot it was a Mac thread!;)

Is it safe to assume that if the saw is reving up good in the cut but the chain is stopping (still reved up) that the clutch is toast? Just started using the PM 650 after it sat for 10 or so years. Problems keep popping up, this is the latest...:chainsaw:
