Back to big timber, big machines and big inch McCullochs.
In the foreground, we have, in no discernible order, a CP125, and SP125C
and a 797.

What is it guys

Got this thing a few days ago. Was told it was a SP80.
I don't think so. I'm hoping it's at least an 82cc variant
but not sure if it's an PM850, 800, 805 etc. There is no
tag in the air box.

Looks like an 80 something to me. That large bottom plate on the rear handle is a give-away.

Love the filter!

PM 850, flat bottom plate, operator presence lever. The V Stack is a nice touch.

:agree2: The recoil spring cover and oil tank cover are early models probably a SP80 or SP81 (I like them). The clutch cover appears to be from an SP81 or another SP model (also an older model that I like). The tank and handle appear to be from a PM850. The skid plate is from a PM850. Whatever it is, you should be able to get it to run like any other older styled 82cc MAC. Ron

Edit: Not sure about the recoil spring cover. My IPL shows the SP81 and PM850 to have a newer model with M logo (also cooler to me than the more modern plain ones). The muffler is a PM850 model.

I will need pics of the tank so I know which to send, there are a few different tops. I will get a box of stuff loaded this weekend and will get it to the post office next week some time. PM me your address. Also a pic of his clutch cover, I have a few options here including a full cover with chain brake fixens but missing a few hardware parts but definitely has the brake handle, let me know what you think and I can send pics.

That wide bottom handle on the whatever is called a Boot Loop by Mac and gave better control of the saw during starting

Right on Joey!! If the 82cc saw doesn't convert him, well, there's no hope for the lad.
Of the several that I have, I usually grab the oldie, no chain-brake , arm straightening, ear splitting, fear inducing, SP-81. :hmm3grin2orange:

To far away from lynchburg for the tour, but I can enjoy the flavor of sour mash just by visiting my local Liquor store. I suddenly need some parts from NAPA,:wink2::wink2:

Got this saw with another saw as part of a package deal. Seller said it ran several years ago and that something was wrong with the clutch until he fixed it. In pretty good shape, loads of compression, DSP valve was working good and besides being dirty and a little rusty has promise of being a good saw. It matches the CP-125 it came with!

Everything here except the bar and chain. I have a 28" Mac bar and will fit a new 3/8 .063 chain to her. It needs a fuel line and a kit which I have around here somewhere.

And the bad, owner said something was wrong until he fixed it, maybe this was it??!! Look carefully for the "Fix" he installed.

Man people do stupid things to 'fix' saws. Great pair of saws you got there Randy. Two from the very top of my 'Mac wish list'. If you want to see a CP70 and CP125 in action, watch Sometimes A Great Notion. The CP70 was used as a climbing/topping and limbing saw in a few scenes. The CP125 was used in several scenes, including the famous "desk scene". Newman's character's brother is limbing with the CP70 when the logs roll on him and pin him in the river (he tosses the CP70 into the river as he falls). Shortly after that, the CP125 quits when Newman's character is trying to cut his brother loose...

Got the sp125 out for a little excercise the other day to cut a tree for a friend. Will be going back to drop another decent size tree and haul to the sawmill for him soon. I sure like that 125.

stretched the legs on the 82cc CP70 today, I did a removal of a mountain ash. The saw preformed flawlessly as usual for a 10 series.
