Looks like a Super 44 or Super 44A (with a replacement muffler) that has been repainted. Can't put a value on it, since I know nothing of the internal condition. That sounds a bit steep to me though.

Thanx!! if its in running cond what would be a good price to pay? I was gonna try and trade for it, just need to know an aprox value Thanx

there is a running example here for $90 and it has been listed for a while, hope that gives you a idea of price.

Yep. I passed on a nice original S-44 with a 24" hardnose and a loop of 1/2" chain for $30 a while ago. It's still available to me, and I'll probably go pick it up in a weak moment. Would probably be a runner with a carb kit and fuel lines. Only thing 'wrong' with it is the redneck fuel/oil caps. Somebody 'replaced' them with galvanized pipe plugs. Drilled a hole in the gas cap/plug and put a loose fitting screw with washers and a nut in the hole for a vent. At least the threads in the tanks look undamaged....

so, it did have that combination, then. One question solved, Thanks. I was scratching my head swapping the flywheels from one to the other. They fit, but because of the thickness, one will not work. Well then here is a new question, what's the difference between Sp81E and pro mac 850 ? just the name and some cosmetic diffenece ????

There are two 24 fin flywheels as well. The thin one will fit the older saws - SP80, SP81, SP81E, and PM850. The thicker one fits the PM800, PM805, Super PM 850, PM8200 and DE80. The cranks are different as well but if you match the crank and flywheel you can put them in any 82cc crankcase (you'll need to match up the flywheel cover as well). The newer saws lack the lower engine cowling (they appear to use the top of the larger muffler to direct airflow) so I'm not sure it is a good idea to get too carry away with interchanging parts.

Aaron knows much more than I. He takes too little credit and gives me to much. Ron

Hi folks, I havent posted on this particuarthread before because I never had any McCulloch's before. Well I bought one just this last saturday. I got a real nice low hour pro mac 850. It runs great and pulls really strong. Paint is in very good shape with just a little black around the exhaust, I dont think this saw got used hardly at all. I paid $125 for it and I thought that seemed like a good deal. Was it? I will post some pictures as soon as me and the wife find the cord that hooks between the camera and the computer.RRR!!! I dont have much experience with these yellow saws, My dad always tells me about the time his brother bought a 3-25 back in the 50's (I think thats when he said), they were doing all their cutting with a crosscut saw and they thought that McCulloch was great. Anyway let me know what you think of my deal and feel free to tell me more about my new saw. Thanks.
Andy

Dang! All this talk of the 82cc macs has got the yellow fever brewing in me bad. Several of you guys have recently acquired some nice saws. Congrats.

Let's see those pics. If you paid $125 and it runs strong, that I a good deal.

Andy I hate to break this to you. Getting a good running PM850 in that shape (thanks for posting pics) wasn't a good deal.

It was a GREAT deal!!!!!:D

You freakin' STOLE that saw my friend. Looks like you've jumped into McCullochs with both feet. The only worry is that you'll be disapointed in the next 10-series Macs you get (and you're getting more..............just accept it) because the 82cc versions are the top of the heap.:msp_thumbup:

it looks like the spike is upside down?

That it is Joey. You're feeling the pull of yellow fever my friend. You just SOLD some very nice yeller saws you know. That'll teach you.:cool2:

picked up some more yellow today. the other saws are me just trying to diversify a little. and a another sp81 not in the pic.
