A little. No different than the guys that do the concourse restorations on old cars. Everything's gotta be perfect down to the part numbers on the belts and hoses, and the paint daub 'inspection' marks. Those guys are over the edge.....

I've got a friend over here that is working on a restoration of an early 70s Olds Cutlass Hurst Edition convertible. Full frame off and he's being so anal over it that he's gone on trips to interview former assembly line workers so he can get the chalk markings on the frame 'just right' .... it's just nuts.

.....and he will never drive it.

How do you like that, there are only two saws marked sold and one is a MM...

Mark

Well it isn't marked, but the 7-29 in the bottom right of the page is sold and is hanging from my shop ceiling now. I can say it wasn't cheap ,but I still feel I got a bargain and it was worth every penny considering the quality of the work. It took Darrin three 7-29's to build mine and as far as i'm concerned it is now in as-new condition and yes there was some re-plating.:hmm3grin2orange:

Where could I locate a handle wrap for a S250 or grip rather?

Good morning OT .. Your question is a tad unclear, but here goes ...

If you mean a full wrap handle, there are members here or eBay for sources. I am also looking for one for my 250, but only half-heartedly as that saw may be sold.

If you have the handle but are looking for grip material, that has been a topic widely bantered about on the threads of AS. To summarize some of the options:
1) Foamy grip tape like used on bicycle handlebars
2) Large heat-shrink tubing
3) Foam insulative pipe wrap
4) Pipe wrap available from McMaster-Carr (Ambull has details)
5) Spray-on bedliner material
6) Spray-on automotive undercoating

I may have even inadvertently left some options off the list. Hope this helps!

found this yellow thing in the trash today. The #'s don't lie, another PM850 turns over smooth but the AV is shot, I might have some laying around here somewhere.

125 Action

Tried to get some 125 action today, but the rocks just kept fighting me. It has been a while since I have rocked a chain but this site is killing me (3 rocked .404s). Heck, just hit the dirt and instant dull. I feel for you guys that must contend with this regularly. Anyway I did get one shot of the 125 nose down in a nice red oak that I have been saving for the 125s (47' to the first branch and still about 30" diameter). Don't shoot me for the 036Pro shots in a MAC thread. I left the 82cc MACs at home and sometimes a guy has got to do what a guy has got to do. The 125 bucked from the Poulan oil jug to the bottom and the 036Pro bucked from the oil jug up.

I would post on the main chainsaw site but there are too many on there that don't believe a 60cc saw (regardless of brand) with a sharp chain can buck 30" plus hardwood without any problem.

I got two rakers in a row way too low on my last chain - boy did the 125 want to take me for a rodeo ride. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Ron

I have been working on getting some new shelving up in my shop, as the old set was trying to come down on it's own. Might have had something to do with too many boxes of chain...

Anyway as I was getting some of the saws put back up I decided to go over the 5-10E and give it a good cleaning. Warjohn picked this one up for me quite a while ago and I have had it setting there but now I got it spiffed up and running properly. I won't put batteries in this one as I have a working set in the 3-10E, but I can check this one off now.

I have a 10-10E parts saw coming, I know it is missing the cover for the battery pack so if anyone has one to spare, please let me know.

Since this shelving is for storage of my 10 Series saws, I was trying to get them organized in order and was reminded that I don't have a 4-10. Looking around in the attic found I did get one in the big haul a while back so I started cleaning this one up. Turns out it had the carburetor modification where they change the lower half of the tank so it is not an all original 4-10 (I will have to keep looking) but none the less it is a 4-10. I stripped it down to give it a good cleaning and thought the PTO side seal looked suspect so I made up some plates to block off the intake and exhaust ports. Later on I will try to find a used innertube to make a gasket/seal but for now Gorilla tape will do.

As I suspected, the seal is shot so this one will take a bit more work when I get home again later in the week.

The carb was modified like my 2-10? I have the original lower half of my 2-10 if its the same as the 4-10.

Just got home from Southern Humboldt with 202cc in two yellow saws. Pics later, waiting for hearing to come back, lost muffler at the old homestead, straight piped it home.
