It appears to be glass filled nylon or ABS. Metals406 hooked me up and I am encouraged by his good will.

Maybe this country can survive...

Info needed

On the PM 430. Just picked it up. Seems like a well built little saw. Has great comp and spark. Broken handle but just got my NOS one in. Looks like a Mag case on this too. I know its an Italian made one but I think it should compliment my 4300 nicely.

You're welcome Calvin. . . Keep them coupons to use for you and your mom. Look into Oil of Oregano, it's supposed to be real good stuff.

Saws? Where did he find the NOS handle for it? Who built these, Olympyk? And when did the Partner/McCulloch pairing go south, or was it only a temporary thing? These are the questions of the day, gentlemen. Ponder them over Easter with the family, and remember the reason we celebrate it also.

I've got quite a few of the other style handles as well. . . I have a hunch the Eager Beaver saws were quite throw-away in their time.

I'm betting they were brought into dealers for something as simple as carb work, but the labor bill would have made it not worth doing. . . Then the dealer would simply up-sell the customer to a new saw, and the Eager Beaver would be relegated to the shelf.

Keep us posted on your Mom Calvin. . . My dad has been battling heart issues the last couple years.

I got this bow bar from a member here, Cleaned it up and got
a new 9/16 chain from another member from another site. I mounted
it on a saw I allready had.

I talk to people and alot of times theyll have an old saw in a shed that generally wasnt used much. Or I get them in scrap metal pickups, and like a lot of others I get them off CL. I found the NOS handle on ebay luckily.

I try to get out to flea markets and yard sales and was just wondering if there was somewhere else to find saws. I went to an antique tractor flea market over the weekend and picked up a Homelite XL for a very small amount. Brought it home and had it running in ten minutes. Didn't need much other than a carb adjust.

This little Mac has a rim sprocket adapter, will it fit any other Mac geardrives?

Randy, I don't have any 10 Series gear drive saws (yet) but the IPL's call out the same PN for the sprockets on the large saws and the 10 Series. Output shaft diameter is 19/32".

I have one used and one new rim type 1/2" pitch sprockets, both are green as shown in your photo. I also have one new rim sprocket in 7/16" colored red.

I always thought it would be nice to have a spline adapter as you show to allow the use of rim sprockets on the gear drive saws, then I sort of fell in to a bunch of sprockets so for the time being I think I am set for the gear drives.

One lesson I learned, if the output (sprocket) shaft is worn or the key way is worn, don't even try to use it as the sprocket will fail in very short order. Good news is that thanks to JJ and a few others I ended up with a spare output shaft or two and could replace the one on the 1-85 that was really bad.
