I found this 10-10S for sale locally and it seems to be in GREAT shape. If everything checks out and it runs good, what would be a fair price? I don't need it and I probably wouldn't use it all that much, but with the condition it looks like it is in I may want to pick it up just to have it...lol I just want to see what you Mac guys think it's worth. I wouldn't be buying to to flip it, so I'm not planning on making any money on the deal, I just don't want to overpay for it.

thanks!
Paul

If it runs as good as it looks, I would grab it for $100. My 10-10s is the first saw I ever owned and is still one of my favorites. If it were mine it would lose the safety chain and get a loop of full chisel, but thats just me.

Never underestimate a good 10-10. Run an XL12 for awhile, then fire up your 10-10, you will know which one has the beans. The XL will absorb impacts better.
I used a 10-10 in brush and slash for years, it ran snappy, used a 28" bar thrashed it around like a loud machete.

Nice looking saw.If it runs as good as it looks, 125$ would be fair.I'm no expert, but I've never seen one with a gray oil tank. And RandyMac is right, check the fuel tank, the gasket has a tendency to evaporate, but they are easy enough redo with some rtv.The fuel line is another issue. They are out there, you just have to look.I love my 10-10S.That's the one I pick up first.

Neither of my 10-10s saws needed a fuel line or a gas tank seal, they just needed fuel and oil and they fired right up! If you end up with it you'll be glad you did!

The 1/8" to 1/4" stainless steel barbed line adapters got here this morning from McMaster-Carr. I fixed the fuel line, then fired it up for a test. Runs like it is supposed to, burbles a little at wide open, and settles right back down to a lopey idle.

I figured out the main cause of the lack of power... pulling the trigger back too far, it pushes the throttle butterfly past WFO to where it then is caught by the intake air rushing in, which then chokes it down to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I will soon be figuring out some kind of throttle stop so it'll go to WFO, but no further.

Holding it at exactly wide open yields gobs of torque and power... buried the 24" bar (running an 8 pin with that right now... it might actually cut a little faster with a 7) into a now 2 year seasoned round of maple, and it would not stop, even when I really leaned on it. Yes, .404" chain was flying around that hard nose bar.

I need to get some spikes for this thing... maybe I'll make them...

Once I get the wide open throttle stop figured out (later tonight, I'm thinking...) I gotta find a 36" bar and chain for it.

Nothing like six cubes of Mac chewing the crap out of a piece of wood. I'll make a video tomorrow morning. Yep, somewhere around 7-9, when some people might still be sleeping...

Might bring home a bigger piece of wood for saw testing sometime this week. I have a few places to check with, they might have one ready to be lobbed into the back of the truck.

You really should move somewhere around 40 miles south of Monroe,LA!I got a big old hickory you can work out with and probably a set or 2 of spikes.

Too bad I live a lot closer.

I was supposed to pick it up on Friday but was late to the GTG, so told them I'd get it Monday morning. Unless of course you get there first. :msp_thumbsup:

Well that sucks for me. May explain why the guy wasn't too eager to sell it. I wanted to take a look at it today but his response was, "nobody will be in the office till Monday at 9am". One would think if they really wanted to sell it they would be willing to make arrangements. I work during the day during the week, so I won't be racing you there for it.....lol

From your earlier post, it didn't sound like you really wanted it. Do you? I was just going to buy it because I'm scared of Aaron and he says I have to buy one. :msp_sneaky:

If everything checked out on it and it ran like it looks like it should I was going to pick it up. Although that also depends on whether or not they are willing to make arrangements outside of business hours, as I don't know if I can get there by 5pm during the week. I just thought it would be neat to own the last model of the 10-10 and that one looks to be in GREAT shape! You could always pick it up for me and then I could buy it from you...for the same price :D

SP125C went out yesterday :) 36" bar is a bit much for 20" pine. Hah. Sank it into some 30"+ oak and hickory yesterday on a clearin job. I was all smiles. But doesnt make a good limbing saw.
