That's a sweet saw mcbob. I just bought my cp125. I have a nice bicentennial mc101 I have had laying around for a while I plan sticking in it. I just really need a big bar. How did you come across the chrome shrouds? Or are they polished?

101aa came with chrome shrouds actually the engine was given to me by a late race friend of mine Chris Brown as he knew i'd find a use for it which i have we competed against each other in the eighties Chris passed away a few years back.

If you keep an eye on vintage karts on ebay you will see some

If this is the saw you bought, it might
surprize you. I have a gut feeling it has
a 101 in it already. I almost bid on it but
just to many irons in the fire. Great deal
if it doe's.

I worked on the DE80 last night. I'm a little disappointed in the engine RPM. Where is the governor on this thing? It has a SDC-85 that I swapped out for a SDC-38A. With both carbs, the max RPM is right at 10k. I put the SDC-85 back in and it seems to run good but slow. When I blip the the throttle, it will jump almost to 11k for one second and back down to 10k. I can't change that outcome with the high side adjustment or either carb. Later today, I'll swap the coil and see if that helps.

You will proberly find the saw's carb has been made so to be in a sence governed Mac did this i recall to stop people wringing the freckle out of them and siezing the engine proberly just what your trying to achieve not all saw are screaming meme's

The decompressor and head shape appear wrong for a 101 i might have thought possibly a 105 but the exhaust mount is odd.

I was thinking the same thing due to the trimming around the decomp button, but I was unsure what this saw really was.

I just want to tune it like my other 82cc macs. I love the way they run, plus it's harder to listen to the tune of the engine when when it has a governor. I havent seized one yet, but that doesn't mean I won't.

Why wouldn't the saw run with the SDC-38A? I tried two of them and neither wouldn't run on that DE80. Also, how do you disable that governor?

Well i cant help here i'm not certain how they governed them if changing the carb made no difference but can you be sure of that second carb what was it off in case it to is a goverened carb, i know i had many conversations with Bob Liston of Mcculloch in Sydney the changes were brought about because of pro cutters over reving this series and the SP125C thats why the 125C has no high speed adjustment.

What they did to the DE i'm not certain maybe if you could locate some service bulletins from that time frame on the DE there would be info in them for sure.

The two carbs I tried are SP80/SP81/PM850 carbs. I don't think they are governed are they? I'll try changing the coil and see what happens.

Thanks for the help

Joey

Oiler Fixed

At 10:45 last night, I got the oiler going on my fav 800. The o ring that holds the disk in place had slipped. Good thing I have distance and tolerant neighbors as I fired it up to make sure it was working. I spend the morning slicing and dicing a big white oak with it. Boy is that thing thirsty; it drank a gallon of mix in no time. Also it is very hard on the ears even with ear muffs. I missed the full wrap on several occasions, but the ease of chain changes more than made up for it. Now that I know it is going to survive my re-build, I decided to name the saw Lazarus. Ron

I have no Face either nor any intentions of joining. When I check the link, I get blank pages and a little thing to click to join or sign into FaceBook. Ron

i'm far from a computer guru, so i can't tell you why it doesn't work. i click the link provided and it works. i do think that its strange though.

Does anyone know where I can find a 42 inch bar for my Mac cp125 if so part no.?

Have a look at your original post in the Chainsaw section, should be all the information you need there.

I am a little skeptical that Oregon is making new bars to fit the old saws but best of luck with it. There are quite a bars to fit the big old saws on e-bay most of the time.
