It's either spalted soft maple or spalted poplar. Not sure. Slabs from two different chunks, may be separate species

Cut down a Mimosa today. Saved a couple pieces to mill and cut into bowl blanks. Colorful brown heartwood!

Spalted maple is about 42” long and 37” diameter.

Cherry was small. 10’ long and maybe 22” diameter. Don’t know if I posted the cherry already. Guy told me they were BIG!! He said probably 40” diameter . Lol. The most unreliable thing iv found is the customers ability to measure things.

had I guy ask me to stop by and quote milling a “big maple”. I said sure sounds good.

Then he finished the conversation with me”yah we used to shoot our guns into it all the time….”

Needless to say i never quoted that
