I've run it in my 5100 since it was new, anywhere from 32-40. Has anyone else noticed the exhaust smells like burning plastic at times?. I have looked my saw over several times, and there is no melted plastic anywhere. Maybe my carb is a little rich, but the plug is brown on one side, light tan on the other.

I don't get that smell at 40:1. Not much smell at all.

On the Mobil 1 oils, are the MX2T and 2T the same thing?
I bought a quart of the 2T tonight, I ask this question
at the parts store they did not know.

I believe it is the same stuff plus dye. It replaces the old stuff.

Was just looking on their web site, it seems they call it both.
the quart I bought only has the 2T on the label and it is red
in color.

Now to decide what mix..........I'm thinking 50:1 I have never
had any trouble at 50:1 stihl and if the synthetic is better
stuff...................

Why did you change the name of Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-4 to Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40? Is the product formulation different?

Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 was renamed because the product is known as Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 outside the US. Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 joins Mobil 1 Racing 2T, for two-cycle engines, and Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50. Be assured that no changes to the Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 formulation occurred during this name change. Same great product, new name.

This came off the Mobil web-site, I think the MX2T to 2T was
just a name change.........But not for sure......

What is the shelf life of 2 stroke oil? I know you're supposed to use any mix within a month or so, but it seems like the oil itself shouldn't go bad. Just curious.

Are you guys running this in "hot saws" or just everything? And why would you go with something other than 2 stroke OEM oil? And aren't you supposed to use straight weight oil to mix with instead of multi-weight?

Mobil 1 MX2T, 32:1, in all my 2 stroke equipment...better than OEM.

Mobil 1 MX2T is an advanced performance, full synthetic, two-stroke engine oil developed to exceed the highest level of lubricant requirements by today's highest performance motorcycles, snowmobiles and lean oil/fuel ratio chain saws.
